Toes.
Why don't we just have stumps, it's not like I can pick up my drink with my feet.

It's like is not equal to It is

Then, assuming a designer:

Designer is not equal to Allah

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Penguin wings actually act as good flippers. Chicken wings would of been a better one.

Wait.

Scratch that, I like KFC.

Many types of chickens are capable of impressive flight times. Only the sub-type of chickens we use now (mostly english chickens), are commonly flightless.

And even then

People being idiots, a dog, chicken, and some asscrack.

So how do you respond to the multitude of poorly 'designed' things being pointed out in this thread?

For every banana, there's a coconut. For every mimic octopus, there's a sloth. For every flagella motor, there's an appendix.

The world population was stabilized at 1bn before we started improving food production. When we hit the 9bn barrier that available fresh water will support what will we blame then?

God for claiming to be omnipotent and good while exhibiting all evidence of impotence and/or evil.
Big Grin

In any case, when the world reaches its freshwater limit, we can surely count on 2.14 billion christians to demonstrate the value of belief in jesus by getting the resurrected holy corpse to turn salt water to freshwater for them (surely a much easier job for omnipotence than turning water into wine), so to give the rest of us a 25% or so slack.

Chuck, the better way to respond to any line of reasoning like that, would be to ask the person making the claim why they introduced the concept of blame to the argument? Stating that such and such are the states of things, and that the "design" of things is missing, doesn't imply blame, since there is no one to blame in the first place. Not that whoever would be to blame has anything to do with the design argument. By the way Frodo, what did your blurb about population stats have to do with the emergence and refinement of agriculture? Oh, that's right, nothing, because you cant address me honestly, you have to "push me out of your territory". Which actually means "retreat from reality", but it sounds more aggressive, so you go with it.

(I couldn't help it anymore, I'm taking the fundies of my list)

1. Ask them to explain defection. Not that it's important to get rid of waste material, but why we do it at all? God's perfect creatures sure smell like shit at times.

2. Ask to explain why, by the time a person reaches 75, they've been asleep for 25 full years. Don't allow "Well, we need to dream" or "It's time for the body to rest", those are rationalizations. Why "sleep" one third of our lives away?
