The Argument From Design

RE: The Argument From Design
Excellent point (the sleep thing). God could presumably make us so that we don't require sleep, which would allow us to get more done. Think how many more churches and whatnot could have been built in his honour in that time!

God can presumable have made us so we don't suffer the ambarassement of being technically the same species as fundamentalists.

RE: The Argument From Design
Well, as has already been mentioned, vast tracts of the earth are unavailable to us as habitat. Beyond that, the shores of the cosmic ocean are littered with "not earth-like" objects. If all of creation were designed to support man, it would seem a prudent piece of engineering wisdom to lessen mans requirements for life and make him amenable to a larger range of habitats. That's just the thing, here we are talking design flaws, when of course there is no design. The theist sees us talking design flaws, and this helps to reenforce in his mind that there is a design, he does not hear the rest of it.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Haha, I certainly hope we've been clear enough on the point that the idea of intelligent design is utterly laughable.

Another one: Siamese twins. Great design, looks like you got bored and started doodling.

Yeah, one would hope that, but it doesn't seem to be the case does it.

Can anyone explain to me the step by step evolution of mans eye, please start from the first step, thanks Godschild.

The worst designed animal ever.

Uncoordinated huh. Without your big toe you would have difficulty walking. Seems like a good design to me I like walking.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Adaptations are a product of natural selection, No Designer.

And beauty is a subjective experience of pleasure, there is no objective beauty, period.

Why man's eye? There are much much better eyes out there.

Whenever you see something in god's design that doesn't make sense it is just his way of testing our faith.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
