I do feel this place is hostile. It makes me mentally tense up whenever I sign on even though I agree with the atheists on here. Which is really no different than my reaction to being around christians, because i can equally not relax around them (abeit for different reasons, which have to do with them not accepting who I am.) I wish I had the freedom to feel here that I could be whomever I wanted, and that you guys would like me just the same.

Alas, i do not get that feeling, so I am tense whenever I come here. Thinking that I have to absolutely adhere to "There-Is-No-God" or suffer rejection and being mocked and thought of as stupid.

i've never thought there was a good reason to be rude or mean to theists. My best friend is an atheist and he mocks and laughs at theists, but it offends me to see him do that. I tense up and go silent when he does that. Some of the nicest people i've ever met were christians, in fact one of them right now is learning sign language just to be able to talk to me. (I'm Deaf and mute)

It's gotten better around here.

I asked atheists to ease up a bit, but the fact remains that theists bring a lot of shit on themselves. And I don't mean merely because they believe in god - because anyone with any opinion or belief could get mocked for holding it, and atheists merely lack a belief in god..they can believe ridiculously silly things as well. The problem with a lot of theists is that they throw their god-belief down and expect us to be impressed with it without giving some sort of justification, then get pissed when we dismiss it just as we might a political opinion or a belief in New Age crystals.

Christianity, just to name the main one, has been around nigh on 2000 years. If a well-read atheist isn't convinced by 2000 years worth of time to come up with a good argument for Jesus, I don't think it's his/her fault.
