There are older religious texts-

Instructions of Shuruppak-

En-hedu-ana’s Hymns-

There was life, gods, and literature before the bible. Get over it.

We were not talking about those texts there bub. Either way, their transmission and preservation pale in comparison to scripture's.

Pale in comparison?

Are they less vile? Do they contain less graphic immorality?

Tell me, bub, just because the heinous bible has been better preserved, what evidence can you offer that it is any more valid than the texts I mentioned?

It might go something like this: Lots more people passed on the stories of the bible, therefore it is more likely true.

This despite advances in scroll making and, in time, bookmaking, which allowed such stories to hang about more permanently and at a lower cost to those who both made and desired them.

By such tokens, Grimm's Fairy Tales must be very truthful and legitimate, too.

Quote:Well the apostles did live at the same time as Jesus, so they are certainly contemporary sources.

Oh, FFS...and Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are characters in the same fucking movie, too. Use one set of fictional characters to prove your godboy was real. Very clever but until you come up with some fucking evidence that there were any fucking apostles you are just shit out of luck again.

Meanwhile....

Quote:Evidence that Confirms the Existence of Caesar is Legion

– in stark contrast to the utter dearth of evidence for Jesus!

Unlike the mythical Jesus Christ, we know what Caesar looked like and we have a complete history of his life. In turn, general, orator, historian, statesman and lawgiver. We have words written by Caesar himself and words written by both his friends and his enemies. Artifacts confirm his life and death, as do his successors. Caesar established a style of government – and a calendar – which endured for centuries.

Can you give an example where I have done this? Or are you just tossing something out and hoping it sticks?

You got me buddy, I was making it up. Your arguments have always been irrefutable. Your rational thinking and impeccable debate skills have brought nearly all of us to Jesus. The comparisons you have used have always been spot-on and I'm betting that if there's any atheists left on this site - it's just going to be a matter of time before they see the light and accept Jesus as their personal savior extraordinaire.

Oh yeah, you've done REAL well here with your savvy comparisons.

That right there is evidence because you can’t even have confidence in what the other texts originally said because their preservation and transmission is extremely poor at best.

Graphic immorality? Upon what authority do you stand to charge the God of scripture with immorality?

This is such a lame argument. The historian Luke mentions the apostles, they existed. Do you believe that Plato or Homer ever existed? This ought to be fun.

Quote:Unlike the mythical Jesus Christ, we know what Caesar looked like and we have a complete history of his life.

How do you know what he looked like? Do you have a photograph of him?

Quote: We have words written by Caesar himself and words written by both his friends and his enemies.

Actually you only have copies of words supposedly written by Caesar, how do you know Caesar wrote those words? You have not proved that his friends or enemies even existed so you can’t use that evidence either. Sorry. It sucks when your own ridiculous standards are used on you doesn’t it?

Quote: Artifacts confirm his life and death, as do his successors.

Oh yeah like what? You have not proved the existence of his supposed successors either, so you can’t use that one.

Quote: Caesar established a style of government – and a calendar – which endured for centuries.

So? Jesus established a world religion that has survived for millennia.

Were you aware that the earliest manuscripts we have of any of Caesar’s writings date back to 1000 A.D., that’s almost 1000 years after Caesar’s life. There are only 10 copies in existence. Compare that to the earliest manuscripts of the New Testament being written within the same century as their authors and the fact there are over 5000 manuscripts in existence today and we see why Jesus myth cranks like you fail miserably.

So you can’t provide an example to back up your assertion? I knew you were being dishonest!

Why would you try and tell a Calvinist that his success in debate is measured by conversions? That’s just absurd and actually pretty hilarious.
