OTH, a little empathy for theistic newbies with bright shiny salvation doesn't hurt...much. I was one of them myself as a lad. I've been on atheist forums where a few self-appointed watchdogs could be relied on to reply to a theist's (admittedly ignorant) first post with some welcoming obscenities. I say, dissect their posts, but give them a few pages to demonstrate their 'bad faith' before reaming them out. This place seems a bit friendlier, and I like it for that.

I've seen members of atheist forums fall over themselves to be nice to a theist who has come to seriously participate if troll season has been too long...and members who verbally kick them because that's what the other theists have conditioned them to do, but come around after awhile, when they can bring themselves to believe that this theist is different. I don't think the trollishness is a theist feature, but it is likely a feature of most people who go to forums with diametrically opposed viewpoints to theirs. Can't be easy being without friends IRL, so they have to stalk and pester their "enemies" to get some attention and social interaction. Poor bastards.. When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
And before you reply, I want you to imagine your brother/sister believes in God.
I don't have to imagine it. I live it. And not just one of my brothers or sisters, but 99% of my family.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.
