Just wanted to say that I decided to watch a couple of these and they're brilliant. I think they're worth watching for atheists and theists alike. I certainly learned several things.

Well, when a man and a woman love each other very much. . .

But in all seriousness, you seem to be making a fairly common error. Evolution isn't filled with instances of grass becoming dogs, for example, because grass is incredibly different from a dog. Way back, millions of years a go, my understanding is that there were a bunch of amino acids floating around. This is very possible, as scientists have since created amino acids in a lab. These amino acids eventually, after billions of random occurences and interactions which naturally result from chemical bonds and such, eventually became a primitive type of cell, sort of how protons and neutrons and atoms form molecules. (Though a bit unlike the cells in our bodies.) This basic cell continued to evolve, and perhaps split into a few species through divergent evolution. (Note, when I say species, I don't mean dog or cat. I mean different types of minute organism- and it's important to note that there is no correct end result in evolution, rather than a ladder with rungs, it's more of a ramp.)
Back when creatures were still very primitive (a few cells) the largest changes happened. Some cells were in places where it was beneficial for mutations which made them into what we now call grass, and some needed more mobility. The largest changes happened very early, making the first few major branches on the evolutionary tree.
Afterwards, species continued to split and evolve. Some structures, such as the eye, began perhaps as primitve cells which were sensitive enough to interact with photons. Random, primitive, simple, but useful. Thus, creatures might have a feeling of light and dark. Over billions of years, more and more complex versions might evolve, kind of like a centuries-long arms race between species.

Hope that helped.

KD - there's also this: http://www.learnoutloud.com/Podcast-Dire...cast/18776

I enjoyed listening to that podcast, which is all about evolution. If you really are open to learning, give it a whirl.

That part wasn't original to me, btw, but I don't know who said it first.
I meant to address this yesterday, but didn't have enough time. On a related not, I hope KdThaKing hasn't run off for good. I think he really hasn't been exposed to many differing ideas from what he was raised on and although debate rarely changes the minds of the debaters, it does tend to help us understand better why we think what we do.

Why would you say that? Most people who actually are freethinkers don't.

(October 20, 2011 at 2:05 am)KdThaKing Wrote: If i were to think like that then recorded history of miracles, signs, even appearances of spirits would all be false and nothing more than the imaginitive devices of delusional people.

What you think has no effect on whether those things are true or false, only on what you think about them. It's impossible to say for sure that those accounts are false. It is possible to say that they are hearsay, there are reasonable alternative natural explanations, and many of them contradict each other, which means they can't all be true. They can, however, all be false. That doesn't mean all such accounts are imaginative devices. It is very easy to misunderstand what we perceive, that fallibility is one reason it is wise to treat accounts of the supernatural with caution and skepticism. It wasn't delusional to think Thor caused the thunder a thousand years ago, people didn't know what caused thunder and explained it in terms to which they could relate. It might be delusional to think so with a modern science education.

Why would you say that? I don't know of any real freethinkers who do.

(October 20, 2011 at 2:05 am)KdThaKing Wrote: The train of thought for freethinking in my opinion leads nowhere but destruction what do you think?

I think you profoundly misunderstand freethought. A good definition of freethought (Merriam-Webster) is that it is the philosophical viewpoint that holds that opinions should be formed on the basis of science, logic, and reason. and should not be influenced by authority, tradition, or other dogmas. Reading up on freethought may clear up some of your misconceptions about it.

(October 20, 2011 at 2:05 am)KdThaKing Wrote: So are you saying that natural selection is an entity within itself which dictates on its own who does what and so on?

Natural selection is what happens when it is impossible for all of an organism's offspring to successfully reproduce. It is not an entity, it is a sorting process, like a sieve through which all surviving life today has successfully passed (so far). There are many reasons why an organism's offspring might fail to reproduce, many of which have nothing to do with the offspring's fitness. A puppy that's 5% smarter than its parents might have been crushed in an earthquake. On average though, dogs (for instance) that are less well adapted to their environment will be less likely to reproduce, and the characteristics that make them less well-adapted will become rarer in the dog population. That's natural selection.

Guess how we figured out America existed? That's right; BECAUSE OF SCIENCE.

Next, look up your objection to Evolution/Abiogenesis, and read their explanation.

We are getting tired of you parroting rhetoric from fundies/evolution-deniers.
I am done trying to explain all this to you, since you have obviously NOT tried actually researching the topic you are trying to refute.

Quite correct, although the Vikings might argue with you. We wouldn't know the continent we now call America existed (although what place the Native American people? I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that they knew something of the continent's existence). Let's see how far we can stretch this: if you were living before the Industrial Revolution, you wouldn't know how steam can be used to power machinery. If you were living before the Mariner space probe missions, you wouldn't know what the surface of Venus looks like. If you were living before Viagra was invented, you wouldn't know what to do with your dick in the event of old age or nerve damage due to spinal injury. Hey, you're absolutely right - that does show you how smart science is!

How did God do it then?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

But he won't, because like all the other fundie fucktards that come here he is not seeking to discover answers or knowledge but to preach.

There is much information and so many books available on the subject that coming here asking us how Evolution works hints strongly of wilful ignorance.

Answer me this KTK, how do you explain not just Evolution but every other damn field of science that contradicts your fairytale?

Which is all of them
