Quite a tour de force from Lily and I applaud what is expressed.
I am a Socialist chiefly because I deplore excesses....of extreme wealth at one pole and abject poverty at the other.
I am anti-capitalist because its nature ensures these excesses will persist.
We are lucky to be living in a world of plenty.
I hope, that one day, we will all, every one of us, everywhere, have an equal share in it.

What kind of excess are you talking about?
IS life all about your basic needs?

How many of you are starving, really. You just do not have the same amount of disposable income for leisure goods that the rich people have.
I really don't believe that anyone is starving in America.
Nature cannot give you the "equal share" in things that you want, because the amount of wealth is not measured by anything that nature can give to you. You're not wealthy because you have a lot of water, you're not wealthy because you breathe too much air, nor because you eat too much, or fat, doesn't make you any richer.

Global capitalism mapitalism. The effects are already obvious, but I'm not really interested in the part with the gap between the poor and the rich, that gap actually defines who is poor and who is rich. You cannot override that gap, I'm sorry.
That has existed long before global capitalism existed.

I mean, you can perhaps try what "poverty" means for something. In first world countries, it means that you don't have the money to buy an x-box 360, perhaps. But I've lived in such a country(Germany), and have not met a single person that lived in such a way, like actually going to bed with an empty stomach.
In Turkey's cities, especially in the slum districts, there are people who cannot live without depending on their neighbors for food. They work, however they only earn as much as to pay the rent for the shitty house they live in.

thats because socialism is very strong in some of those countries. As far as america is concerned, well, we have been in a MAJOR decline lately.

Mehmet, a large chunk of Americans live in exactly the same situation. Unable to afford food without help from neighbors, friends, family, or the state and federal government. Frankly the "food" available at their price point isn't even food. Unable to pay their rent (even when the fed discounts it by putting money in the pot), let alone even contemplate buying an xbox. You watch too much TV. I grew up going to bed with an empty stomach and we werent even the poorest people we knew (and we had fields under cultivation and rivers, lakes, and oceans to fish out of; forests to hunt in). Hey hey, I lived in Germany for a few years myself, and they have slums as well. Those who live in poverty often do not have the opportunity to avail themselves of the benefits of being born in a first world country. There are dirty little shitholes around the world that outperform the US in key areas such as education, healthcare, and upward social mobility (read: working your way out of begging your neighbors for grocery money and gaming the eviction laws of whatever state you live in).

Thousands upon thoousands of people, most of the homeless and living on the streets and parks because they have to.
