FWIW, I hold that human societies lack the necessary resources, political, social, or whatever, to avert disaster in time. It was an interesting species, while it lasted. Maybe future generations will talk about a population bottleneck of a few million, or perhaps another species, better suited to the new climate, will take over our former ecological niche, and we will become the staple of their diet (ignoring bacteria, virii and prions).

Well, with Kichi calling climate change a fraud and people in power treating it as a polarization game, I feel that "throwing in the towel" is effectively what we're doing on an individual and collective level.

I've developed parts of global warming simulations and spent better part of a few years interning for such an organization. But, according to the Right, I've wasted my time on a 'fraud'. Guess anything I've to say must be a fraud too.

Don't you guys considered the possibly of government discredited the claims of globe warming, climate change and damages of Earth's life diversity - to keep the society under ignorance control. For example, CO2 filters, pollution filters or any methods to improve Earth's environment, probably required billions of billions money to build and maintain -

Money is, perhaps, only motive for government. Money there, money that, money this. Isn't it strange that energy efficiency [non-fossil fuel] technology is already within our reach years ago, but fossil based vehicles are still producing in America. And Blam! BP's oil rig spilled their 180 million crude oil into the ocean. Surprisingly, few months later - the oil rig is back to their drilling-for-oil business. Reason? There's millions of millions tonnes of crude oil yet to be drilled and profited.


I don't trust government but, hey, I'm only pulling the conspiracy theory card here. But in case, I'm designing the self-sustaining, life support house for my future children' sake.

I was still in Florida for that. The ridiculous shit that was reported on the news blew my mind (they did not have the situation handled, it was not just a little bit of crude). Globs of oil were washing up on the shore, the crabs disappeared, everyone cancelled their vacations. It was disastrous. I moved to Kentucky ffs...lol.

I fail to see why you are attacking me for something you think I have said. I am saying that the 'Carbon Tax and Carbon Credits/ Trading Scheme' is a fraud...get ya fkn facts straight.

Yes there is climate change...but I have been hearing that alarmist cry for the past 50 years and there is no new information now as opposed to then. I am also highly sceptical of governments as rhythm has pointed out who have been sitting on low fossil fuel alternatives but somehow "conveniently" allow BAU with the oil and coal industries.

And get ya fkn facts straight..the general populace here in Oz are striving to make a difference...have you heard that our Federal and State governments are reducing the rebates for alternative energy use and our Federal government has signed on for another 20 fkn years of Coal powered electricity ??? Geez I wonder why?

So green house gases arn't mess? Even if we cannot avert dangerous climate change, why not just clean our act up, to ther best of our ability at least. And yes, that includes things like the Pacific/World garbage dump and everything else.

By taxing the big pollution companies it makes them change the way the operate or close down, there is no other alternative and there is no easy way. It also makes renuables more viable in the market place. Eventually, renuables will be cheaper than fossil fuels and then we will see a dramatic change. A change for the better if you ask me. The less pollution we put into the eco-system the better, be it gas, solid or liquid.
