RE: Star Trek vs. Star Wars - An Objective Analysis

I still have one of the original Lord of the Rings board games, SPI's War of the Ring. I was a massive fan of D&D from about 1980-1984. Still love the premise, and no computer game can beat sitting with friends, sharing food and wild creativity in creating what essentially ends up being a fantasy novel. I tried other games over the years (most notably Chill, which I discovered years after converting the rules for Top Secret to allow for a Victorian horror campaign), but what really makes the game-beyond a great DM-is a circle of friends who all love the fun and companionship.
That said, The Gamers and Dorkness Rising are some of my favorite film parodies of any institution. Rpgs certainly accrue their fair share of true weirdos (not the fun kind).
On the ST v. SW debate, Star Wars all the way, but only the first (er, second-er ...) trilogy. The only redeeming feature of the newer films was Natalie Portman, and you get much more of what you want from her in The Darjeeling Limited.

Am I the only "nerd" here who didn't play rpgs and the like? I just couldn't get into it. Had my face buried in too many books, I guess.

Had my face buried in books, too, hon, but my creativity loved the chance to "co-author" adventures with friends. It is a fantastic experience.

[holds up hands] what can I say? I'm sure my parents would have thought it as horrible as video games and unfortunately I lived too far away from all of my friends (I went to a school "out of district") to easily meet up. Must be why I prefer the company of plants now...too used to being alone.

I like the fact that I can look at her differently now.
