Sacrifice

RE: Sacrifice
The thing is, though, is it really a sacrifice?

A couple of days of excruciating pain - yes, definitely not pleasant - then you die for three days, get to visit a sauna you're immune to, then come back to life and spend eternity as emperor of the universe?

I'll do it!

But GC, there were no Adam nor Eve. It's a story, badly written, means nothing, no morals, nothing. Let it go ffs.

 Wrong!

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

If the shedding of blood is sinful, and Yahweh shed blood when he didn't have to, and demanded it on a regular basis, that means he was sinful. To say that it's ok when he does it is hypocritical.

No one said shedding blood was sinful.

I find it hard to believe that Harvard Divinity School hasn't offered you a position yet.

Oh, the "man's fault" argument. We have free will but god already knows what we're going to do...

Begs the question of why he made that bastard snake talk in the first place.

Still, your answer says nothing about it being less than convincing.

It wasn't a snake it had legs why can't you people that call yourselves smart figure this out. Sure it was man's fault, they did not have to listen to the serpent and act upon what he said, they could have remembered what God had taught them.

An observant Jew becomes attached to a movement headed by an apocalyptic preacher called John The Baptist . . . hmm, let me think . . .

Is it really necessary to remind you that the rite as practiced by John and his followers was related to the confession and forgiveness of sins?

Sorry GC, but accepting the punishment of another as a just atonement for your "crime" is just fucking sick. Since it was ok for jeeby do die for your "sins" would it be ok for the neighbor's 6-mont old to be killed to atone for your "sins?" After all, it's innocent blood.

Then what did you mean by "the shedding of blood shows us the awfulness of sin"?
