This is so sad.. I hate that America is becoming so islamophobic and muslim-paranoid.
I know Islam is responsible for a lot of violence, but with 1 billion muslims it's not fair to assume the worst in them.

This is very disturbing. I'm not sure it's limited to muslim's. In our increasingly paranoid culture a thing looking like a bomb may get anyone stopped and questioned. Arresting and interrogating him was way out of line.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

I'm a little worried about a whole school district and a police force that can't tell the fucking difference between a clock and a bomb.

No wonder Texas is a red state.

I bet he won't have to worry about college loans, though it won't really make up for being suspected of being a bomb-maker.

Either the people in Texas are just so Islamic-phobic that they knew it wasn't a bomb and just got him in trouble for no good reason, or they were idiotic enough to contemplate evacuating the school while sitting in a room with the bomb.

The school wasn't evacuated.

What is most surprising about this is that the cops did not shoot him.  He isn't white, so why did they ignore precedent?

It did not look like a bomb honestly.

Based on recent history, they should have been more afraid of a white kid who came to school with an unknown device.

Or do we just do guns?
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

I'm afraid of all teenagers with unknown devices! Teens are scary! But yes I agree, white kid doing something suspicious is a bit more on my radar.

I don't know how conversations went down. I was unfairly persecuted about computer "sabotage" my school IT guys thought I did. But I also would have thought it was funny to bring a bunch of electronics to my school and kind of lead people on with it as a practical joke. I think if a kid brings a hacked-together electronic device, and others don't know what it is, it needs to be left at home unless the kid tells someone he's bringing it in.
