Please put a nice spin on this Australian history of countless massacres of the indigenous people.

Australian history of gun violence is on a par with America's.
Jesus Christ - you get your information from Wikipedia?? And ignore the neutrality notice as well??

Just because massacres took place doesn't define the history. The policy of the age was assimilation, and people who were different from you were feared, they were labelled as belonging to "other races", and there was a very primitive understanding of the cause and communicability of disease.
Furthermore the Commonwealth of Australia wasn't founded at that time - it was founded in 1901. There was no violence preceding it.
Overtime we have understood that we (the people who came to Australia) misunderstood the Indigenous cultures, and failed to acknowledge them properly. Which is why the constitution needs to be amended to recognise the Indigenous people as the first people of our land. In my view the word "race" should be removed completely from our constitution as well, since we now know there are not different "races" of humans.
Not a single one of the ancestors of my bloodline is a convict. So I'm a bit surprised you don't understand that Australia wasn't founded by convicts. There were plenty of convicts that were set free and are the ancestors for other Australians - and most non-Indigenous Australians who have Australian ancestors stretching back to the 1800's would have some convict "blood" in their ancestry - but there are those of us who don't.

Failed to acknowledge them properly? Is this your whitewashing euphemism for killing Aborigines for sport? Please pretend you don't know this part of Australian history. The atrocious treatment of Aborigines is certainly not the only important aspect of Australian history, but your repeated attempts to render it insignificant are pathetic and telling.

Babies don't belong in prisons, people in general don't belong in prisons most of the time, but especially not children. Oh yes because children are total angels and too holy for such mature and scary adult things.
My cousin toddler once bit the shit out of me younger brother side because he was spoiled and mad. If anything he should have had a TV cable smacked around his pampered ass.

Just an interesting controversial detail I heard, they killed the Aborigines for STUDY on the evolution from chimps to man. Some dudes thought aboriginals were the "missing link". Isn't it interesting how Evolution has been used to justify Scientific racism? Not that Evolution is wrong or anything, I just wrote this for ragebait.

Bambi: sure, scientific methods (or attempts of) can be misguided or grossly immoral, no arguments there. You can't actually blame a non-sentient process like evolution for what it causes someone to do. It's not like you can arrest it. I tried that with gravity for spraining my ankle and it didn't go down well. "Go down" well? Haha!
I typed out this amazing study* about the missing link. But my printer was missing ink, and it came out as "missing ink".
*No I didn't, comedic purposes only.

Having easy access to a gun however could have been avoided.
If parents who chose to have guns have not indoctrinated their children about the consequences of action involving guns by the time the children are eleven, the parents need to be shot with their own guns, starting at the genitals and knee caps.

Oh I'm sorry Cato - is there an agreed UN convention pertaining to the treatment of Indigenous people? No? How many countries don't recognise Indigenous people TODAY? How many recognise them and treat them like second-class citizens (eg Japan)?
Do you know what we did with people who committed murder? We hanged them. And from 1838 that included killing natives.
I never said that killings were "irrelevant" I said they were a product largely of the conventional wisdom of the age (assimilation) and the fear of people who are different to you. Natives killed colonial settlers as well you know.
