-That- isn't difficult to grasp, but that's not what she just described.  People feel presences all the time, people attribute things to gods all the time, people assume and abandon belief sets all the time...this is not at all "detecting" a god. Why would we use the kid gloves when a person advances a statement that reduces the god they claim to believe in to silliness....when they shit a disposable claim down our earholes? Nope...I'm holding these god pesterers to the things they say...after all..they swear it's important...and they came here to tell us about it, clearly.

You are right, Rhythm, it is an "immense claim"

If someone says they have felt the presence of gawd, yes, I usually just shrug it off as another one of the millions of people who have that . . . belief . . . yet cannot offer any proof.   She's one of literally millions.  That's because gods have been a part of human mythology for many thousands of years.  They're woven into the culture, and will probably be difficult to eradicate.

It's when they KEEP asserting that they have been talking to gawd, over and over, clearly wanting the listener to say "ok, yes, I believe it is gawd you've been talking to" that I start getting annoyed.   I want to say "I heard you.  Next topic please, move on."  And they just keep yammering about their imaginary friend.  Repeating a personal, unverifiable claim will not convince me.  Give it a rest.  After a few dozen assertions they have gone from boring to very, very irritating.

i have shared my experience but nobody can transfer an experience with God to another person so that they can experience it , its not something that can be measured by current technology and im only a human and am not able to transfer an experience to someone else , only God can do that for each individual if they are open to an experience with God and getting that proof from God .

how am i shriveling from my claim of detection read all the comments ive made on this website so far what am i talking about ? I did not use any equipment i didnt need any equipment just my mind that was not closed was all i needed .

If he comes 'round, says "hi" and starts getting rid of poverty and child abuse and rape 'n' all sorts of that stuff, and shows us how to heal some diseases, cool.  I'm on board.  Maybe.  If there aren't any strings attached, like prayer and worship and slavish devotion and hell and all of that crap.

Oh yeah, this God she's communicating with is definitely not the xtian God...

what's the name of this "God"...it's what ever you want it to be, remember jenny said she was open-minded to the possibility of this "God" even being alien  http://atheistforums.org/thread-37161-po...pid1080835

and what is this God saving us from, you ask?  I believe it's from all of the religions and the big thick books...not completely sure, but that's what I think

And I don't think there are any strings attached, like prayer and worship and slavish devotion and hell and all whatnot...

But I do think we have to love others as ourselves... which can be quite difficult at times, and might be concidered "slavish devotion" by some

God is saving us from religion?  Well, that's unique.
Loving others as ourselves - that's not slavish devotion, that's common sense.  No gods required.
And actually, I have already been saved from religion.  No gods required there either.
But have your god stop by and introduce (him? her? itself?)  --  by itself, without needing to talk THROUGH a human.  That would be absolutely history-making.  I hope I get to see it.

Your mind functions as a godometer?  You've clearly overestimated the performance envelope of your mind.  You have not detected a god at all, you simply believe in one.  Stop it, you're cheapening the notion of god with your persistence in this.   Let me advance an alternative scenario. You don't actually know what the words proof, evidence, or detect entail...you don't know what science can currently measure, or even that god can't be measured with current technology. You don;t know that others have been offered proof, nor do you have any to offer yourself, nor are you aware of the contents of what others might offer -as- proof...nor are you likely to agree that it -is- proof if those contents do not sit squarely with your beliefs. We're not discussing science, or measurement, or current technology, nor are we discussing proof or evidence. We aren't even discussing god, proper. We are discussing a belief you have, about an event...and if you could just fucking contain yourself....that would be a sturdy position. I -also- have experiences about which I maintain a truth value that cannot be demonstrated. For example, I cooked the best curry that anyone has ever eaten, just last night. I can't prove this to you, I have no evidence, there are others who would attest to this fact, but they have no more proof or evidence than I.......but I maintain the truth of the proposition wholeheartedly.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. See bolded line - I agree with you.  So, you can't really "share" it, you can't transfer the experience, you can't prove you had the experience, and you can't even describe it in enough detail to let another person imagine it.

So why share it at all?  Why not just keep your personal experience personal?  And, of all places, why come here to share it, when the very name of the website tells you that you won't be believed?  -- Because most of us won't believe from personal anecdotes, no matter how good you are at telling them.

Yeah, but not everybody has been saved from religion... and those who haven't are really making a mess of things, don't you think?

I don't know if this God is going to stop by and give us an introduction, but either way something needs to be done
