Personally, I like the trigger warnings. I hate to get half way through an article or a video only to realize I get to spend the next 2 hours vomiting and popping Xanax. It's not fun.

I think the correct position on trigger warnings is something in between - Not all trigger warnings are bad, but triggering every potential scenario is not a bad idea as well. I think it should be up to the discretion of the entity responsible for something to choose whether or not to put trigger warnings, and I feel like society should minimally accomodate to those who have been trough horrible traumas - Of course, people who have traumas need to adapt as well, so it's really something in between.

I don't get upset with people who don't use them. You can't warn for every possible trigger. One of my worse triggers is this specific type of cologne. Can you imagine if you had to go around shouting out how you smell so as not to trigger anyone? But when people do add the trigger warnings, I always appreciate the effort. Even if it's not something that specifically bothers me. It's just nice to know that people care.

My problem with trigger warnings is you can't warn everyone about everything. And I think some people are just being weak, like that college student that sued over a book. College is supposed to challenge you, sometimes throw you from your comfort zone. And trigger warnings for racism, ableist language, and sexism are ridiculous. Most poc aren't so weak to be triggered by mentions of racism, we kinda deal with it on the daily. The same for disability and sexism. Most people in these categories aren't going to be too traumatized to hear stuff we hear all day, everyday. And if they are I want to see the rock they've been living under that the mentioning racism, sexism, ableism, or homo/biphobia makes them have wwii style flash backs. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be warning for violence, that is actually understandable. But the warnings for all and sundry is stupid.

Yes but the rules don't say you need a trigger warning for racism or sexism.

Can you read? If that's so, let's refer back to what I just said. Warnings for violence are understandable. Warnings for other topics I think are doing more harm than good. Wanting a trigger warning for everything is simply a way to avoid confrontation about squirmy subjects. And that's soft.
