Starbucks Red cups and the "War on Christmas".
November 10, 2015 at 3:30 am
I know there is already a thread about how we, personally, will engage in the "war on Christmas", but I thought this deserved it's own thread. If I'm wrong, admins feel free to merge it.
So, Starbucks has taken reindeer, snowmen, dogs on sleds, and snowflakes off their cups this year in favor of a nice, simple 2 tone red cup. The response from some Christians? Go batshit crazy of how Starbucks is part of the "war on Christmas."
I seriously thought this would be an Onion article or something when I first saw it, but no, some Christians are literally up in arms (see: the guy who brought his gun in to Starbucks just to show that commie socialist business what for!). Yeah, he's already famous for being a douche, but this brings it to a new level.
Starbucks Red Cup "Controversy"
So lets make a thread dedicated to the asinine things some Christians claim are actually part of this "war on Christmas". What is more asanine that getting so upset ofer red cups that you bring a gun into the store?

It's Josh Feuerstein, so I'm hardly surprised.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Someone brought a gun in? Jesus fucking christ. Well, there will always be insane people and I wouldn't take that as at all representative of Christianity as a whole.

OK, I'm confused now... But then again - apparently so are american christians. Why would they want reindeer, snowmen, or snowflakes on the damn cups? Those are the symbols of secularization of Christmas, for f***'s sake, as opposed to Baby-Jesus-themed imagery. Plain red cups are better for them.
Have these people lost the last of their remaining marbles? Have they become saturated with superstitions and fantasies, to the point that they can't keep them straight? Next year they'll be complaining about the lack of light-sabres and Batman symbols...

It's manufactured outrage. The poor oppressed majority needs to be protected!

I'm perfectly happy that Starbucks has decided to join us in the war on Christmas. Go them!

I agree with the maniac Christian. People are trying to be so diverse and inclusive now that corporations won't decorate their cups with harmless pictures incase they exclude someone, it's just fucking stupid.
When you go to different areas of the world, different cultures different people, I personally think it's a pretty good thing they all have different styles, celebrations, food, decorations, seasonal events, as long as their harmless.
When I think of the good results of diversity and inclusiveness it's the exact opposite of the result here. It's not about people stopping doing things they way they used to, it's about everyone being able to carry on doing things the way they used to.
I realize it's just stupid decorations but I them, the same way if I go to china town I like the stupid dragons and waving cats they have in the windows there, these things are much better than a blank mundane dull fucking corporate canvas.
I think that's the main problem, diversity and inclusiveness doesn't = blank canvas. It's the opposite. A blank canvas is what you come up with when you're too afraid to carry on doing what you used to do incase it might be politically incorrect now.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

I feel sorry for the folks who demanded that "God" be censored from "Goddamn" on TV. They must be crushed by not having strangers agree with their ideas of what a holiday should be.

Do reindeer or snowflakes feature in the bible? The middle east doesn't seem like the ideal place for them.

And the color red ?
Book, chapter, and verse please dear Christians, why red is associated with Christmas and not slaughtering Amelekites and/or menstruation ??
