Convert me if you can
RE: Convert me if you can
All this chit chat about verses and philosophies.

I would ask the Muslim to pleace explain and prove the soul..what it looks like, how much it weighs, what it is made out of...

Until then nothing else the muslim says has no grounds..no soul, no afterlife, no punishment, no need for Allah.

What you say is true Jerry but Rayaan so loves to be deluded (that he actually thinks things through), why spoil it for him??

Wrong, I don't love to be deluded. I like to think and educate myself and Islam is one of the things that I like to learn about.

If you are not deluded, then please explain these things:
What is a soul?
What is the difference between soul and spirit?
What is a soul made of?
How much does a soul weigh?
What are the height, width, length, dimensions of a soul?
Where in the boddy does a soul reside?
If you lose a hand, does your soul lose a hand too?
Science has shown that thoughts come from electrochemical transmission through the neurons of the brain. How do you reconcile this with a soul?
If someone is born retarded, and the soul is supposed to be your ego, then does that mean the soul is retarded as well?
1 out of a million births are born without a brain *see pic below*. Where is this babies soul?

How come a soul has never been proven, and the best definition we have of a soul is that it is "a religious concept"?
How come religious books that claim souls exist can never flat out explain what a soul even is?

RJ, I cannot answer your questions about the soul either.

It is a religious concept and that's why you won't find any evidence for the existence of such a thing. But the reason that I believe in it because I believe in an afterlife. As an analogy, the body is like a hardware and the soul is like a software. When the body dies, the soul continues to exist forever because it is not bound or limited by the laws of the physical world unlike the body. I have presented more philosophical ideas on the afterlife in this thread (post # 7).

You say that like it's a fact. Where's your evidence or proof?

Where does the soul exist? What will happen to the souls when this planet dies?

Do only humans have souls or does every life form have a soul? If not, why not, or if yes, then prove it.

There are many intelligent Christians, no doubt, but an "intellectual Christian", is surely an oxymoron.

I like your tone of text. Please dont get me wrong, my last post and this post is me being very calm with you and hopefully friendly Wink posts will continue between us. You realize you made the mistake of saying software and hardware. I specifically said that we KNOW the thought patterns of your brain i.e. "the soft ware" is electrochemical. It can be measured and even manipulated. No soul has been found yet. Saying that it is not bound or limited by physical laws are a cop out. Here is a list of things not bound by physical laws:

smurfs

elves

bugs bunny

and if no soul exists, and that is the best you can do to explain a soul, then anything you discuss about the afterlife is useless...no soul, then no worry of an afterlife or allah...unless allah slings a rock from the sky onto your head and squishes you..but no hell..no soul to torment.

You want to focus on something? Find some REAL proof for a soul and then get back to me with the rest of your philosophies on the afterlife and junk..mmkay?

If you read the whole paragraph, you'll know that I didn't say that as a fact because I used it as an analogy only. I already said that I can't prove that the soul exists.

Didn't get you wrong, and even you acted unfriendly it wouldn't bother me at all. I have quite a thick skin so you don't have to worry about that.

Fine, the soul is not like a software.

Finding a real proof for the existence of the soul would be very unlikely. So, forgive me but I'd rather not waste my time on that. Smile

Explain to me how you can believe in something with out a shred of evidence? And if you believe in a soul without a single bit of proof, then why dont you also believe in Chakras? there is no proof for them either. How about Karma? There is no proof for that either. If you were born in India you would be trying to convince me that Hinduism is the truth, and you would hate Islam.

You even admit it is a useless ordeal, yet you still believe in it.
