"I may be fat, but I beat my eating disorder"

Lol, and Napoleon "likes" this blatant misstatement -- that is, a strawman.

Hypocrisy at its finest, folks. Dollars to doughnuts he won't criticize Jello in the least for this, because it supports his position.

Napo Wrote:Smokers know they smoke. What's your point?

Yes, but I didn't drastically reduce the amount of cigarettes I used to smoke because people kept telling me how bad smoking is. I reduced because I wanted to feel better and I know it's bad for me. I don't need people informing me of the really obvious health risks that btw are already written in large font on every cigarette pack available for sale.

Well i'm not exactly wrong. He did quite openly state at one point that he was talking about people that we care about, if i remember correctly, and you guys are going off on one trying to make him look bad for caring about people. Not exactly something i'll side with.

I'm told you can address obesity as a risk factor by eating less."

Now, you didn't say this explicitly here in this thread, but this is goddamned well what your position entails.

No, this isn't what I've said and it's not what my position entails at all. So kindly go get fucked.

Quote: Quit being dishonest about this

You're the cunt being dishonest with this ever so blatant straw manning.

I guess you're such a genius you can identify the supposed 'logical implications' with my position (that you've straw manned), but are completely ignoring the logical implications of saying we should not say anything at all about anyone's weight.

Yeah, if I'm not going to call you an idiot, I'm certainly not going to call you a genius.

I sense a UK-US divergence, here...

Us'ians like to be left alone and prefer to take the PC road with everything.
Brits... still care, bless them... at least for their friends. "I'd say, ol'chap, you're getting a bit rounder in your belly. The wife treating better than fine, I see."

Right, so a friend who might say you should think about cutting down smoking is over-stepping the mark, but the blinding warning on the front of the packet is just looking out for you.

My god people in this thread are stupid. I guess those warning labels got put there from the tooth fairy.

How, exactly, is that saying that he's advocating genocide?

Be precise.

Me, I'm not trying to make him look bad for caring about people. I'm pointing out that he's being patronizing.

You might actually be on to something there Tongue

Maybe that's the problem. Being from the UK, we say this kind of stuff all the time, people rarely get offended. Apologies to you US-ians if it does, but this is just what i grew up like.

And you don't do the same for Mermaid? Give me a fucking break you cunt. You pile drive on me in any thread you disagree with and the amount of times you straw man my ass just so it coincides with your own position is ridiculous.

For the love of fuck, it's like arguing with the religious.

This is not a hard concept to grasp.

I never said it "was my job". Keep misinterpreting.

All I've done is contend what you said.

Have you forgotten the bullshit you spouted already?

(February 13, 2016 at 4:14 pm)Mermaid Wrote: My point is that people seem to think it's ok to talk about the bodies of other people, and I just don't think that's okay. At all. either way, good or bad.

It absolutely is okay to talk about the bodies of other people. What you are saying here is that it's wrong for 'people' to acknowledge the issues other people have with their bodies. This is basically burying your head in the sand. This seems really god damn conducive doesn't it?

Nobody here said we should go out fat shaming, like you seem to want to insinuate though. But carry on with the bullshit.

Are you capable of having a conversation with someone you disagree with without insinuating I am stupid? I am insinuating nothing of the sort. I am not talking about shaming someone for being fat. I am talking about telling someone they are fat, and how to fix it. Is that not what this conversation is about?

As the owner of a body, I think it is absolutely NOT okay for other people to talk about my body condition. That is a consideration I pass on to other people by not commenting on their weight. The only thing that accomplishes (from my own firsthand experience) is that I think they are overstepping boundaries at best, and are a dickhead at worst.

Is this my responsibility to inform people that they are overweight then? Is it burying my head in the sand to fail to acknowledge that someone is overweight? Is that what you are saying?

Please call me stupid if that's not what you are saying though.
