They create a patriotic bubble to offer a false sense of security. It's exclusive by definition and that's what their voters ultimately crave. To feel exclusive in their sorry little existences.

So, no. No Hitler. Just another wayward rightwinger who may walk the path of fascism. There have been thousands in our history. Hitler only carried it to the ultimate extreme, but as I always say, Hitler comparisons only divert attention from what the individual issues with any given rightwinger are.

Actually I wasn't just comparing with Hitler but with all fascist leaders. It's just that Hitler gets brought out as the boogeyman. Trump is also using the same tactics as Mussolini did for example. And nor is it just focusing on a single minority. I have explained how Trump is similar in more ways than that.

When I have directly compared Trump with Hitler it's usually to say that Trump isn't as competent.

I remember watching a documentary once about a Jewish member of the SS who hid his background and was really ashamed of it. Some of his colleagues knew and kept quiet. I don't find that particularly surprising.

Just look at the Conservatives in the UK. They get voted in on promises that they will cut everything to the bone and people still support them hoping that it will be other people who suffer the financial hardship. It really is not unusual for people to vote against their own self interest because they are in denial and cherry pick the message.

Bullshit. It was her husband who left us with a surplus. It was Bush Jr who fucked that up.

I am really sick of everyone making this about one person. Our decline started WAY before even her husband took office. The only thing she or any democratic politician can be accused of is too much compromise with the brats on the right.

Things are changing and it is STILL up to the rest of our democratic politicians to put pressure on her to stop compromising, which Obama has had to do as well, but more importantly WE have to say something every day even after January.

This mess is not her fault and to claim that one person is the cause of everything under our diverse government with 3 branches and oversight is conspiracy bullshit.

Nope sorry, the plutocracy is the cause of the right, not the left. The only thing the left can be accused of is trying to placate the rich brats instead of standing up to them.

No, my grandfather certainly wasn't a Hitler fan. My father, 15 in 1938. He was kind of awed by the spectacle of Hitler entering Vienna and he always pointed it out to me, as a warning not to get sucked in by appearances.
