Guns aren't a determining factor in whether or not someone commits suicide.

Zero autos would mean zero auto deaths.
Zero guns would mean zero gun deaths but not zero murders.
Zero guns would mean zero gun related suicides, not zero suicide.

See the pattern?

I'm sure that it does but the point is that once you get the concealed weapon permit the person doesn't have to go through another background check.  So be good, get the permit, stock up on guns and ammo, and go crazy.

No doubt, which is the reason why I mentioned above that such permits should be reviewed annually or biannually, including the background/psych evals.

No. It would have made me feel better, if you acknowledged, that the numbers you provided were largely incomparable and skewed towards one particular conclusion. If you just start applying other arbitrary categories - how will that make those statistics any more reliable, or comparable?

Hey, why don't you compare the numbers of one armed albinos killed by machine guns, with the number of heroin junkies killed by women drivers? Because that's how statistics work, right?

I don't really understand this fear of a "police state". We live in a civilized world and not in a jungle where everyone has to save their own skin. The cops, and legal institutions are there to protect the citizens. What's the point of having such institutions if one has to take the law in their own hands? And what is even the point of having laws if everyone has to enforce their own laws? cops, our government, leaders, these are not some aliens dropping from the sky, they are coming from among us, they are the same as us, and we have the power to choose who gets the power, so why do you think anyone and everyone with power is out to get you? They are not a hive mind damnit!

So you have your guns, now say you don't like your president, what's your solution? shoot him? Or raise your voice and get him to step down? If your voice is already a strong enough weapon, why do you need guns?

And again, as a self defence weapon that kills, how many deaths do you expect to prevent with it? Why can't non-lethal solutions be a better option?

Those are only similar in name and you know it. And you'd still not be accounting for the fact, that everyone uses cars, while the same can't be said about guns. Or for the fact, that there are way more alcoholics and generally dumb people, than there are cold-blooded killers.

And of course, however you slice it, in this apples- vs-oranges comparison of yours - at this point there are no modern countries that have been able to do away with human-driven cars as transportation method, although there are efforts towards that goal. There are, however, great many countries, that banned, or heavily regulated the use of fire-arms, so at least we KNOW that it's possible and that it reduces gun-crime.

Then perhaps you should parse out intentional killings using autos and compare those to intentional killings using guns?
