By that definition, a Nest thermostat has free will. One may ask who cares.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

"Free will" is past its sell by date now. I consider it a woo phrase. It needs so much clarification as to be useless. Get with the science.

robvalue,

Do you think you can prove free will is a woo phrase ? If so burden of proof.

Note his phrasing: "I consider it..."

Rob is expressing his personal opinion. He is not attempting to prove anything; thus he has no burden of proof. You've been told this before. You're coming off simply as obtuse at this point.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Alex K,

You may think that the definition is partly beyond words but a good way to define it, is the power to choose.

What is the nature of this choice? Are we free to choose however we deem fit, or merely from a set menu of prechosen options?

All this drama over a fictional ideology.
I dunno, the young ones these days?

Thomas, the bible is just some parables written by ignorant goat herders.
You didn't fall for it, did you? Tell me you didn't.

Oh well, you know what they say folks. There's a sucker born every minute.
No God, No fear.

No, I asked him "Do you think you can prove free will is a woo phrase ?" and then you may see that I put "If so burden of proof"

I did not say it was not his own personal opinion.
