If california, or texas and florida..left the US, it wouldn't be the US that shouldered the brunt of the subsequent misery, and California (or texas and florida) wouldn't benefit from such a split. Bella, what you need to understand is that in this day and age, every political decision by any country affects the whole world. There is no such thing as splendid isolation. For what it's worth, unless we're talking about Micronesia, we all have to suffer the consequences. I think the EU would trade the UK for Texas right about now. What say you brits, lets get done with all this special friendship song and dance and declare you a state? Particularly in light of your soon-to-be dependence upon -this- Union?
