Here's a suggestion for improvement...the police should kill people less often. We should pay more, expect more, and demand more accountability. Maybe they should be heavily up-armored and de-armed. Maybe we should decriminalize those victimless things which account for the large majority of risks both to officers and the people they shoot?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

That's one way to get them all to quit. Then you protects you?

Paying them more and making their job safer will make them quit? Then maybe they should quit.

Let me explain something to you, Gawdzilla. There are two types of people on this forum, when it comes to discussing serious issues. There is the type that adds nothing else to the conversation but regurgitated good sounding statements they think will win them brownie points, and there is the type actually concerned with the matter at hand, not looking to sound like politicians, but rather reason like thinkers.
Guess which type is Rhythm, here.

You don't think that decriminalization would have an impact on the risks that officers face...and the numbers of people shot by police officers?
You don't think that upping their armor rather than their guns in their protracted domestic war against stoners and black people might have the effect of reducing the number of people wounded/killed by cops -and- the number of cops wounded/killed by suspects?
You don't think that offering a competitive wage for a safer job will increase the quality of the police force?
(I don't need any more brownie points btw EP..check mah reps biznatch..I'm rollin in em, lol..don't be jealous )

In fact, those who complain the most are the ones who offer no help or solution to current problems. That is the way I see it and I dare say many others. For example, imagine I was unemployed as an Englishman in France. I could simply blame the French people for their hatred to anyone English. If I want to help, then I have to do it myself and that is the way it goes. I could take the easy way out and stay within a community where English is spoken and not integrate at all, but where would that get me? Just remember, that I am responsible for my own life, no-one else. If I do something wrong against the French society, then I am to blame, not the society itself. This is why I have no qualms of having an identity card in England, simply because I have nothing to hide. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear from the authorities.
