Ammosexuals just can't stand the thought of not being able to wave their substitute dicks around in public.

Most of your single shot folding breech guns are pretty damned nice. It's extremely popular for bigger calibers. When you have a round the size of a coke can...how many do you need to off Bambi, amiright? One of my .22s is single shot, breech. 2 of my shotguns. I don't have any pistols, not my bag. They all get the job done. Surrounded by people at the range (and in the woods) with ar's.....and honestly, I think alot of them would starve to death regardless of how many rounds their magazines could carry - if they had to count on their rifles.
Singles have the benefit of slowing everything down, making shots more deliberate than the down range semi-auto pattern. I'm a biased shooter, though...I like to hit shit more than I like to shoot at shit.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I used to swing a Browning M2 .50 cal. MG. If somebody want to abuse the piece they could be 82 pounds of lead a minute in the air. I thought of it as an area weapon. I agree with you on the single shot idea, "make it count".

Basically, dangerous game/fast moving predators that might rush you ( a rarity in N. America nowadays) and target shooting. In the case of the latter the smaller the better, imo, it costs alot of money to put a few thousand rounds downrange a week. I've been doing the target shooting maintenance end with a 17wsm, basically a pellet gun with a .38 nailgun cartridge behind it that uses the same action as the 303. I've got alot of buddies that hunt with ARs now...but I still schlep the Enfield. 22lr has come down in price so I dusted off my semi-auto tube two two as well but haven't had time to shoot it as often. I did plink a few rounds at a small 100m range with my black rifle toting friends and their shit was jamming left right and center. IDK if my little sears popgun actually -has- a faster rof but I know I put more rounds out in the same frame of time. I've heard them say "what if it's a long shot and I miss" - well...as an ambush hunter I don't believe in taking shots at an animal that you might "miss".....what if you horrendously and painfully - but not lethally...injure them and they escape through the palmetto to live a harrowing life of disability, right? More on point to the thread...my sons in kindergarten, so he;s going to get his own first "real gun" for his birthday this year. It's been sitting in my closet. It;s a folding barrel pellet gun with the compression chamber removed. It doesn't actually work...but I;ll have him follow me around in the woods and to the range properly holding and toting it. Pointing it at what I point at and not pointing it at what I -don't- point at. When he shows me that he can manage that I have an identical piece that actually does work....figure he'll get to shoot it with supervision in the next year or two. Honestly, alot of the time that kids end up shooting themselves I wonder how familiar and how wll disciplined the kids were. Daddy had a gun, but never bothered to do anything that might keep his kid from shooting himself...from improper storage all the way to operational ignorance on the part of the child. We have alot of guns, in america...but no meaningful "gun culture" anymore.

I can't even... You'd blame this on the gun? This guy could've murdered them in their sleep, or hell - stolen their car that they parked and ran their ass over in the street... This is some mentally ill 74-year old dude, who went ham with a gun he probably had lying around in some drawer since forever. You'd really take away the right to bear arms from the common populace, because stuff like this >might< happen? RE: All Hail the Second Amendment

This argument again? Only - The founding fathers were perfectly aware of the scientific advancement within armament. Flint-locks were already on their way out and volcanic semi automatic "pistols" as well as revolvers were being made. Carbines with lever-action and ammo-capacity were expensive, but they existed and the gatling-design existed in a very simple form. This is a bullshit argument, obviously the founding fathers would be able to imagine that guns in 200 years wouldn't be the same as it was back then. |
