Private Prison Complex receives terrible news.

RE: Private Prison Complex receives terrible news.
Yeah, at least there's something you can rightfully claim to be #1. The world's largest prison population. When I read that article yesterday, I took some time looking up the number of prisoners. And it turns out, you even beat China by a long chalk.

Good, fuck the vultures that crippled our system and turned prisoners into a tradeable commodity. Now, if we could just get the states onboard.
Why are you so worried what happens to the prisoners? They're there for a reason and as some media refer to them they're the"garbage of mankind", so I really don't understand why you're so worried about them.

Well, without speaking for Rhythm, that's probably because many people simply don't belong there in the first place. World's largest prison population and the incentive of making the American justice system more punitive that reformative. There are people imprisoned for something that would get you a slap on the wrist,, community work or a fine in most other western countries.

Also because we're not animals and have to take care of everybody, even the criminals.

See, invisible....and even when visible...roundly devalued.  Forget them, then, if you like.  Have you taken the time to see what this for profit prison complex has done to the communities in which it resides?  What the effect is, on the un-incarcerated?

To add to what abaris mentioned...some of the people who "don't belong there" -are- there because the very same institution managed to criminalize whatever it is that landed them there in the first place. They wouldn;t build the prison (which the area did, objectively, need) unless mandatory minimums were imposed on x..rather than a slap on the wrist. You have to remember that these people look at crime and behavioral trends in an area as a potenmtial source of profit...and will hold us by the balls in negotiation to seek that out. They're not going to build the box unless they have assurances that it can be (over)filled, that the rate of conviction and length of incarceration is sufficient to meet their projected returns.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Along with the entitlement to guns and the selling of government access to the highest bidder, the incarceration of the disadvantaged is one of the ugliest things about he the 'greatest' nation on earth. Dodgy

And..you know..that little niggling fact that they're still human beings and American citizens.

Sarcasm or entirely uncritical buying of media?  Hard to tell.
