What do you get when you cross a Jehovah's Witness with an atheist?
Someone who knocks on your door for no reason.
Personally I'm against evangelical atheism because that will just make us look as annoying as the theists who do that are.

If I awoke tomorrow and the world was atheist, well that might be what xtians would call a miracle.
I would answer " no " to your question, on the basis that I don't think faith is the biggest issue facing humankind.
If I awoke tomorrow and found that all the world had the necessities of living a decent life and that the mega rich were no longer mega rich and the third world didn't exist, then whatever regime was in power I would say that things had improved.
 A man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

This question comes up on forums with monotonous regularity. It's fun to answer as my opinion tends to differ from the majority:
Nobody would notice the difference. We would still be the same self interested, greedy,vicious and stupid animals we have always been.
Good people use religion as a motivator,bad people use it as an excuse. Atheists don't use it at all; we have the wonderful tool of rationalisation. so far I've never been able to work out an individual's beliefs simply by observing their behaviour.( I conceded that being a suicide bomber seems to give a few hints)
Nature abhors a vacuum, so be careful for what you wish for; it could be replaced by something worse, say a dictatorship with a personalty cult.
PS atheism is not a belief system, so one cannot 'convert' to it; one deconverts from a religion.

When I was a Christian, I was annoyed with dogmatic condescending Christians. Now that I'm an atheist, I'm annoyed with dogmatic condescending atheists. Just goes to prove that people are the same, regardless of what they do or don't believe.

And we shouldn't let the opposition keep us from using phrases that work in context. If we do that, they've already won. I believe evolution works. I have faith that the airplane I'm taking tomorrow won't suddenly fall from the sky. Evolution follows the work Darwin, and others, did and are doing now.
