Do you see any benefits to religious faith?

I am a militant anti-theist. My signature should inform you of what I think of religious faith.

Christianity has benefits. It would be great if its followers didn't preach by alluding that their lifestyle is superior and yours is "empty" and that you will pay for not giving up your free will to serve the Lord will.

But you're just saying that as an infidel...Hehe

As a Muslim (man) there are many great benefits! You can have 4 young wives, if you die a martyr all your sins are forgiven and when you get to paradise there are 72 virgins to search your every pleasure. And guess what....they magically become virgins again the next day! There are rivers of milk, honey and wine that you can drink from all day.

Al Tor surat number 52 verse 17, "Verily, the pious will be in gardens and the delight, enjoying in that which their lord has bestowed on them. And their lord saved them from the torment of the blazing fire, (they will be told) "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do. They would recline on thrones, arranged in ranks, and we shall marry them to fair women with wide, lovely eyes."

Christianity can't compete with this because Islamic paradise is a sensual paradise.

The only benefit to religious faith is delusion; the purest escape from reality.

Did you require scientists to tell you about the magnetic field of the earth or was it obvious to you from day 1?

Yeah but on the same token any science you can't directly prove for yourself is just populist crap right?

There are so many un-obvious things in reality, you have to go to school and have other people teach you to learn about most of them.

And there a rub on that one too! How much is there to know and what percentage of that does man currently know? And then what happens when we start creating our own data, then big data and metadata on top of that? Will it ever end? Will it ever be meaningful...

You attended the wrong school.

I know for a fact that you know absolutely nothing.

To address the OP again:

I'm not aware of any benefit of religion that can't be achieved as well as, if not better, by other means.

I view it as the equivalent of being drunk (I know this isn't an original thought). Sure. I could cope with life better too if I gave in to the bottle. Is it a good idea? No.

I'm sure you attended a school in which you taught yourself all the things you don't know Wink

And now you assume to know my mind and all it's contents! Hilarious
Don't you just love the smell of hyperbole mixed with ridicule in the morning? It's so strong and salty...

I know for a fact that you're a lumpy wheeled jackwagon. Popcorn

Peace with death and loss of loved ones?

To be honest, I think you should apologize to me for having to read the atrocity you presented as a counter argument.
