For the nuns and the Jews, please point to the men supervising them while wearing Speedos and sandals. I don't see any, do you? So I'm calling strawman.
And the nuns are not showing their hair.

This is just France's emotional way of saying "fuck your bullshit religion." What comes next will be worse.
I'd be interested in being walked through the link between wearing a burqhini and committing a terrorist attack.

Let's go to what the French say about this, shall we? Their national motto is Liberty, Equality, Fraternity.
From Wikipedia:
The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen of 1789 defined liberty in Article 4 as follows:
Quote:Liberty consists of being able to do anything that does not harm others: thus, the exercise of the natural rights of every man or woman has no bounds other than those that guarantee other members of society the enjoyment of these same rights.
Note there are no special exceptions carved out for superstitious people who believe that their books of fairy tales and sky daddies tell them, among other things, to keep their women oppressed and hidden. Liberty and equality for everyone.
If Muslim women who "want" to wear head to toe swimsuits and colorful head coverings while their men are free to wear what they want only do this because they 100% came up with the idea on their own and they aren't being forced or indoctrinated into covering up - then have at it! But that's simply not the case here and to say different is being intellectually dishonest.
I'd like to meet anyone who 100% came up on their own with the idea to wear what they wear without any indoctrination into covering up.

It's so petty.
That woman probably grew up in a fundamentalist Muslim community (which is most of who wear burkinis). Her whole life: She's been told that she'll burn in hell if she disobey's Islamic law, she's been told to always obey her father as part of that law, then told to always obey her husband. She's been told (in the best case scenario) that her family and community will disown her if she leaves Islam. She's been forced by her family to dress a certain way since puberty and before she was 18. Probably married extremely young.
Choice being made by herself is only is only in the very loosest of sense. Meanwhile how is her Husband dressed? Islam supposedly mandates modesty from both sexes, but 9 times out of 10 her husband is in western clothes, able to enjoy himself on the beach like a normal human. Although I don't believe in banning it, I can thoroughly say 'fuck the Burkini.'
The burqhini was invented several years ago by an Australian. Fundamentalist Muslims tend to be against it.

Cannes bans burkinis over suspected link to radical Islamism - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-37056742
I feel this is slightly different to the burka ban debate (despite the name burkini the face is not covered), and it seems the only reason for the ban is because it is 'islamic' the article says that other religious symbols are not banned (skullcaps, crucifix etc).
So, while I generally support a ban on burkas, as the face s covered, I don't support the ban on burkinis. Thoughts?
The ban is pretty fucking stupid.
They just look like a scuba outfit with a dress attached.
The next terrorist attack/scuffle/stabbing or whatever that happens isn't going to be prevented by stopping a woman wearing a burkini at the beach, that's my prediction anyway.
Deporting criminal immigrants and actual extremists living in the capital and so on that might help.
The ban is double stupid, it makes the French look legitimately prejudice against Muslims while at the same time as doing nothing about any of the problems they are facing in relation to Muslims who want to fuck the country.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.

The first people to be discrminated against in France were the Sikhs and their turban. They were told that they were not allowed to wear it, and those of school age weren't allowed to wear one either. In other news, the police authorities in the United Kingdom are going to allow police women to wear hijabs and burquas. Just what a woman who is in shock would need to see.

Why?
If we are going polemic one could ask, why the UK swallowed so many cultures they didn't want to deal with. These cultures are present, same as in France, which also has a mainly North African colonial history. If you don't want to see the cultures you absorbed, it's a bit late for that decision.

That is totally wrong. Please do not even compare the freedom of North African women to women of Pakistani origins. They are worlds apart. Further to this, in the UK, we have a very large Chinese/Cantonese community so, would it be wrong for all the Chinese to dress like this as police personnel:
Or how about Chinese policewomen in the United Kingdom dressed like this:
Of course not, it would be silly. The Chinese population have integrated fully into English society and they only wear their costumes when necessary. However, I can see the positive side of a Chinese policewoman compared to a burqua clad policewoman:
Yup, I can see the appeal.
Further to this, I am for the hijab being worn, but not the burqua.

What that has to do with a "burkini" ban escapes me.
