Max Mannheimer died at the age of 96 at a Munich hospital. Given his lifestory, his is a legacy of trying to make people understand what happened during the Nazi regime. He toured schools, always factual and never bitter. Given the same circumstances, I don't know if I had the strength to do what he did.

And I agree, not sure I'd be able to do that either. Just thinking about it as someone far, far removed makes me feel a little horrible inside. Can't even begin to imagine what it would be like as a survivor.

A man I really admired, since I had the pleasure of hearing him talk in numerous documentaries about the time. He stayed in Germany after 1945, working with historians, with the custodians of the former concentration camps and schools.

Also drove a real cool car. But that only as an aside.

Oh, it absolutely did happen and it is horrible that people still deny it these days, but I also find it equally disgusting that holocaust denial is a crime in some countries.

Indeed. Most holocause deniers come from either a Christian or Islamic background. My girlfriend is half French-half Armenian and her mum lost half of her family because of the Armenian genocide that happened and the damn Turks still won't admit it.

Unless speech incites violence or other material harm to specific victims, it should not be restricted, in my view.
