Deal with it.

They are dealing with it, in their own way.

What you mean is, shut up and ignore it.  Not the same thing.

So, what they are protesting is his presidency and proposed "plans".  The chants include things on climate change and on immigration so far.  They have a perfect right to protest his supposes policy proposals.

Say, what would your reaction be if the protests were the other way around?

I don't think there was a person on this board that didn't expect there to be protests if Hillary had won.

In fact, there was a movement to riot and cause mayhem by a significant portion of his followers had things gone the other way. Not sure how many would have followed through, but either way.

People are just expressing their frustration and anger. Let 'em at it, they'll get it over with soon.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I think protests are futile. However, I remember Donald Trump suggesting during his campaign, that perhaps 2nd amendment rights can be utilized, in order to stop a politician. Food for thought.

You know, I'm not that old but it feels like a long, long time ago that you were a racist or a bigot because you held racist/bigoted thoughts or performed the reprehensible actions that went along with them... and you weren't one because you voted for an admittedly nasty candidate that you thought was the lesser of two evils.

Sounds like some people are jiving to that ol' song and dance from the regressive left, so hey, while we're at it; are the black and Hispanic folks who voted for Trump as racist as the white ones? Or do they get a pass 'cos ingrained oppression or [insert favorite buzzword here]?

On the subject of protests; I get that people are mad, and they have every right to express it in a peaceful protest. That said, I also think protests should have a goal. This is just a bunch of whiny children pitching a fit because their candidate sucked exhaust pipe on the race to the White House.

Why should they get a pass? I feel the same contempt I feel for anyone, who has witnessed this campaign and still was comfortable voting for that candidate.

You know, you're right and I know who their ringleader was. It was Clayton Bigsby.

The protests, or rather the belief of those protesting or otherwise expressing fear at the election results, is disturbing.

The US government isn't a one-man sailboat. It's an aircraft carrier. It takes years to turn it. After 8 years, Obama got it going a little to the left. In 2 - 4 years, Trump could possibly straighten it out (possibly - though he ran as a Republican and has a Republican Congress, that Republican Congress resents that he came in and stole their show). If he gets re-elected, he can get things moving toward the right. Then people will want change and elect a Democrat. This is how America works. Daily life for the vast majority of people didn't change much under Obama, and it won't change much under Trump.

This history is known. Further, Hillary called for a peaceful transition. So, why the irrational fear and resulting protests?

Dissent and civil disobedience are healthy activities but getting off your complacent ass and voting packs more of a punch.

I think that's the first time I agreed with one of your posts.  Big Grin
