True. But a Congress at his disposal doesn't bode well. They're more or less in line with most things he claimed to do. I can only repeat - big caveat, he's not Hitler - but it would do well to take him at his word. The biggest stupidity is not taking any authoritarian politician at his word. They mean what they say and they will at least attempt to do what they said. If checks and balances are up to the job is about the only thing remaining to be seen.

History has told us as much.

History, as in the last few days, has also told us that Trump didn't mean a damned thing he said.  No sweat off my sack, but the alt rights pissed. Turns out he was a spineless cretin telling other spineless cretins...who can't..even now, acknowledge who and what they are, whatever they wanted to hear.

No Hitler indeed, at least Hitler had the courage of his fucking convictions, and so did his supporters, lol.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Yeah I'm not a fan of politicians in general, though some are better than others.

"It is a curious thing ... but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it." — Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Lol at all the people saying Hillary focused too much on racism. Her opponent runs a platform based on racist, bigoted policies and gets endorsed by the KKK, and she's supposed to talk about jobs? That shit's normally political manna from heaven.

Sure, the "basket of deplorables" comment wasn't exactly the savviest political move, but it's not like it was far off the mark, either.

Yeah, I think that comment was a real blunder. Attack the politician and/or his policies, but never attack the voters.

It wasn't wise from a political standpoint, but it's one of the few genuine things she said - as far as I am concerned. I share that view, as I said in the other thread. And I don't give half a shit how reluctantly they voted for Trump. The message was out there, for everyone to see, the KKK endorsment was out there for everyone to see, and still ...

Deplorables? I would have chosen a stronger word. But I'm not a politician. A politician probably should have been more of a diplomat.

That's why when he takes office, the ceremony is called an inauguration, not a coronation. Here in America we don't believe in oohing and awing over the emperor's new clothes.
