The Festiva should be made in Mexico. Cheap cars need to have low prices. Building the Festiva here is just going to jack up the price. The consumer is benefiting. Ford is keeping Lincoln production in Kentucky because Americans will pay the price.

It is cheaper at the moment, but what Trump is purposing is putting a tax a big one on all imported good from mexico. Clinton 1 signed the North American Free trade agreement/NAFTA. When he did that big companies like ford started shipping all their factories to mexico because no labor unions which means for the cost of 1 American worker they could now hire 4 Mexican workers.
But because Trump told ford there will be a 35% tax comming on all imports from Mexico... Ford said it is now cheaper to employ american workers.
NOW it is cheaper to build the festiva or whatever ford wants to build here.
This means Ford and companies like ford will look to cash in on now cheaper production costs in the USA rather than over seas. That means reopening factories here which means jobs here.
To put it another way when we have more production jobs here we have a larger consumer base as more people are working and have more of a disposable income.

Duh!!! That's the point smarty pants... It costs more UNLESS It is made HERE. Trump is making it harder to do business from outside of this country if you are marketing in this country.
Which is why Ford Stayed and why Carrier Stayed. They will have a leg up on the competition.

^^^^^^ That last line right there is the core of Reagan's deregulation corporate blackmail.
What these fuckers DO NOT UNDERSTAND is higher taxes don't have to be looked at as a bane. If wages for workers kept up with the cost of living, that would create MORE revenue.
No business owner, big or small is going to hire one more person than they need. The more people that come through the door, the more pressure there is for them to hire. WELL, guess who outnumbers who? WORKERS outnumber the business owners so they, not the business owner constitute the bulk of demand.
"We have to pass that tax onto the consumer" BULLSHIT, that gets wiped out by livable wages.
If one looks at the tax rate between the end of WW2 up to 1980 when Reagan started deregulation and cutting taxes for the rich, you'd know that at one point the tax rate on the uber rich was 90% and only 50% after all the deductions.
Trickle down is bullshit and does not work.

Ford did not stay. They kept their Lincoln production here. They sent the festiva south.

Carrier isn't staying. At least, it isn't planning on it. Anyway, why is it that people think Republicans are the only ones who want to keep jobs here?

Dripshit you dumb fuck.
THIS
http://www.lincoln.com/crossovers/mkc/
is a Lincoln MKC.
What Ford announced and reiterated in September was that it shifting SMALL CAR production to Mexico.
http://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/fo.../90355146/
The MKC is not a small car. It is a gas-guzzling pig that shitheads like you love so you can cover it with confederate flags.
And while you chant "Murrica! #1" you ought to sprain your brain and read this part.
Quote:The industry has known for decades that domestic manufacturers struggle to make a profit on small cars in the U.S.
In recent years, automakers that include General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Mazda, Toyota and Volkswagen have announced plans to either expand existing plants or build new ones in Mexico. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles also has said it is considering an expansion of its production there.
The number of auto jobs in Mexico reached 675,000 last year, a 40% increase from 2008. U.S. auto jobs increased 15% over the same period to more than 900,000, according to the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor.
In addition to the North American Free Trade Agreement, automakers are also drawn to Mexico because of its lower wages, trade agreements with 44 other countries, a robust rail and shipping infrastructure and a workforce that has proven it can make high-quality cars.
