How do you think this works?


The DA who is trying to make a case goes to a former cellmate of the accused and starts asking if he has any information. Do you think they agree to testify because they are "good citizens?"

They aren't going to be looking to poke holes in the story of their own witness.

I was thinking more along the lines of a serial killer that has victims that have yet to be found, and coughs up that information to save his ass.

Against, under any circumstances. Not through the fallibility of the system argument, not through the expedience of preventing more death, certainly not through the fallacy of personal circumstance (although I never wanted to be that guy in the pub with his mates hanging off his arms yelling "It's not worth it!", I'd expect to the held back).
Even under the most optimal circumstances, execution leaves me feeling we are all lessened by the experience.

Napoleon, a life sentence for a serial killer is no picnic, indeed some might argue it to be worse than execution. The food saved over one life sentence would not exactly solve the problem of starvation around the world.
In short, I think you need to offer a better argument for c.p. than this!
