Nope, they just executed those who the fascists didn't like, even if they were responsible for massive loss, waste and injustice.
See the third movie for that.
Only watched it for the supersuits that should have been fucking present in the first of those lousy movies.

That's not true. Neither of Rico's parents were in the military. They were rich business owners who didn't want him to enlist. Then the bugs dropped a rock on them.
Honestly, the Starship Troopers "universe" was probably in much better shape than ours would be if we were dealing with an alien invasion. They didn't even have conscription.
They paid for it... they definitely paid to have children in that setting. But you are correct.

Well to be a citizen you had to risk your life to the community, military service was not the only option, one of the alternatives to gaining citizenship was being a test subject, in that universe they claimed it was more of the sacrifice, giving you appreciation for the community than military service for military sake

You could also do civil service as well.

Robert Heinlein had nothing to do with that.

As pantries across Michiana struggle, Congress is on pace to drastically cut food support even more
And of course when people need help the republicunts are never far away...fucking them over!
Quote:The U.S. House on Thursday afternoon passed House Resolution 2112, which included cuts to the Women, Infants & Children Program and a program that provides food for low-income seniors.
But also in the House bill was a more than 20 percent reduction for food and administrative costs for The Emergency Food Assistance Program, a program run by the USDA that helps the agricultural market by buying surplus food and sending it to states to distribute.
At least Marie Antoinette was willing to let them eat cake!

According to fascist logos, they already were worthless and a drain to society. Let them starve.

As I watched the first movie (the only one I saw), I wondered about how faithful the movie was to the book. I remember how Heinlein was outspoken about "women and children first" being the prime directive of every culture, all else being quickly dumped in a time of emergency. He was critical of "idealists" and said any culture that doesn't protect the women and children is playing with extinction. When I watched the movie and saw women being in the military and being placed on the front lines I couldn't help but think that there's no way that was in the book.

Someone I know was telling me the differences, and actually the women being in the military and the front lines were the one of the few things they got right.

The book was a book about duty and becoming a man, growing up.
The movies, according to the director himself, were intended as a political platform and had no intention of being faithful to the book past sticking their collective dicks into Heinlein's work and calling that "art".
