Compare that to a country where you can buy guns easily in stores i.e. America
Obviously having guns able to be sold in stores is going to increase the amount of guns people have and the amount of people killed by guns both deliberately and accidentally.

Quite frankly, it's worth it.
There is absolutely no excuse for disarming law abiding citizens, because the criminals still obtain firearms and ammunition relatively easily. "Muh Dunblane" won't really cut it for much longer and this culture of fear we live in regarding guns is absolutely pathetic.

bold mine
Trust me, you don't need a store in the US. That's one of the scary parts that needs to be fixed. All sales should be restricted to a licensed/registered dealers required to follow the checks and reporting.

Well, I just mean guns are less available here.
And yeah that is scary. I know America is scary.
There are many reasons I love America though. If I had a lot of money (and enough to afford healthcare) I'd happily move there.
I fucking hate it here.

With the current president and cronies in power I wouldn't move to the states if they paid me 5 times what I'm making now.
No way.

I have a half brother that developed Schizophrenia when he in his late teens. He heard voices, and they were telling him that my father was trying to get him. Luckily he confided in me what the voices were saying and we were able to get him into a medical facility. Because he was an "adult" this was a lot more difficult than you would thinks, but the judge and psychologist felt he was a clear danger to the family.
That was 20 years ago. Today he is married and holds a job. He's also medicated with antipsychotics. Every few years he'll try to stop taking his meds, and every few years we have a family intervention. Usually they tinker with his medications when this happens. Sometimes that goes well, but sometimes it gets worse. His wife is very attuned to his behaviors and can detect if he's missed his medications pretty quickly.
He does not need a gun in his presence. My father is an avid hunter and owns quite a few guns. To this day he feels that he's alive only because he had bought a new gun safe before the incident, and my brother didn't have the combination.
Mental illness is a nasty shit sandwich. People with it and their loved ones have enough on their plates without worrying about easy access to guns.
I want an answer on this from a conservative.
Why is it so important to them that everyone is able to exercise their 2nd amendments rights with the minimal amount of checks and documentation, but want the opposite for voting which is also a right?
In some states like Wisconsin you can legally buy a gun from a private seller while showing zero identification, but you can't vote without very specific documentation. I guess we know which is more dangerous for conservatives.
