When I was a theist, I most certainly would not have done that. I always questioned the examples in the Bible of such things.

Ido everything Winthrop tells me to do as it is, why would I shy away from any special requests from God ?

Here's the thing sport.

God told us not to follow any new or direct revelations if the contradict how we are told to live in the bible.

If God told one of us to kill someone period apart from what the rule of law is willing t support, then what that person is talking to is not God.

What happens to "God works in mysterious ways"?

What happens to "He doesn't have to explain himself to you"?

If God knows what he is doing, why wouldn't you follow his orders?

How about you consider this CL, maybe you have better morality than the god you want to believe in? Maybe there is no God. 

Now before before you say "God would never ask you to do something like that", how do you explain the story of Abraham being asked by God to kill his own child? Your response might be, " but he didn't do it"..... In real life, "I didn't mean it" or "it was a loyalty test" would not fly if you heard that being said between real parents. Moral humans would call the police and rat out someone who said that to see if someone else would really do it.

If you say you wont, you lack the loyalty you may claim to have. If you say you would, flat out, that would make you evil. That is the conundrum with calling a God "all powerful" or even worse, "all loving". I do not see any "free will" in that logically.

Nonsense on Drich's part because the NT contradicts itself. First off in any case the Jesus is the same entity as God, there is no way around that in any case. Secondly Jesus DOES have quotes in the NT where he does claim to be there to keep the OT laws. The hypocrisy is these same people who say the OT doesn't apply are the same people who want to uphold the OT 10 commandments.
