We had pigs on the farm when I was a kid and the largest number we ever had was under 150.  And it's a big job to care for that many.

Had the Viagra prescription refill number on speed dial, did you?

we did veterinary them ourselves

terramycin we injected into the piglets. When one of our favorite barn cats became sick, we kids prevailed upon grandpa to inject the cat with it. The cat survived although grandpa wound up a little worse for his efforts. We called the cat Terry ever after.

Worming the hogs was always fun . . .

not.

But is there a good side?

Well I still like talking to people, even if i disagree with them.

Sex with my wife is still very hot.

Learning new stuff is still cool.

Being wrong can be awesome.

I love dogs but cats are way cooler.

What have you soulless motherluvas got?

Good side to being a christian:

My family.

My friends.

Eating at restaurants.

Getting out of the city and experiencing nature.

Travelling and learning about other cultures.

Not having pets.  (Dogs are better than cats though.)

Helping those in need.

Participating in atheist forums.

Not worrying about much.

I agree. Can do all that without belief in god though. But I have no problem with your post, those things are important to me too, except I have pets, but no problem with those that chose not to either.

I was just trying to jab at you a little with the remark about pets. I've had three dogs as pets and I handled a patrol dog in the military for awhile, so I have a preference for dogs. I feel free now that I don't have a pet because we don't have to worry about finding someone to take care of him when we go on trips. As far as having those things I mentioned without God, it's true, but atheists miss out on experiencing God.

You make 2 mistaken assumptions:
1. That there's actually a god to miss out on experiencing
2. That if there even is a god, it's one we'd want to experience

Obviously the lack of evidence and absurdity of the proposition would mean having to practice self-deception, delusional thinking, irrationality, possibly as far as outright insanity, and that's hardly worth the chance to...what, hear voices speak platitudes into your ear while you know that there are still children dying of starvation and disease en mass every day?

And whatever gods have been proposed are monstrous, worse than any adversaries they tend to try to point the finger at for being troublemakers. So if it spares me having my skin crawl associating with one of these fucks, I'd much rather miss out on that experience, thank ya verra much.

So don't fucking patronize us, brah.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

---

There is no better way to convey the least amount of information in the greatest amount of words than to try explaining your religious views.

Not feeling "unworthy" - when you're a theist, that's definitely part of the mindset, a belief that you're unworthy of God's love.

D, that "unworthy" part is a core component of their sales strategy.
How can you sell the remedy if people don't have the symptoms?

gotta see it for the morally corrupt business practice that it is.

Fun atheist thing I never tire of:

when ever I step into a different church building for the first time and I don't instantaneously self-immolate, I know I have encountered yet another FALSE religion.
