Wait a minute. What about making machine guns shooting bibles? Shit they be claiming to die by the word of their god.
Well, it would be handy for the soldiers. Especially if it comes in two ply...
In an emergency IANMTU, I have used a bible to wipe my ass. Being the paper not as absorbent as regular TP, I had to use most of mathews gospel to get a clean bunghole.

The Bibles that many soldiers carried were small "pocket bibles" that slipped into their breast pocket, google "bible bullet" and you'll see pics of bullets embedded in bibles which stopped a bullet that would have killed the soldier..

He wasn't as big as The Beatles. It's on record.
Or by "as big as Elvis", did you mean mass? Because that dude ended up huuuge.

Not from my experience.
But then, no True Scotsman dies without his kilt!
Wait...

I've come terribly close to dying a few times in my life. I never cried out to God, even when I was a believer.
The thought just never occurred to me.
I guess I was too busy trying to figure out how not to die.

There likely are a number of examples of this happening.
The same would be true for any thick book carried in the same location.
But believers love to claim such things happening with a bible as a "miracle" but the same thing happening with other books mere coincidence.
The same way they tend to ignore the probably instances of the bullet going right through the bible and killing the soldier.

Some hardcore fundies might claim that, but most enlightened christians see nothing miraculous in it and know a copy of "Lady Chatterley's Lover" or whatever would have the same bullet-stopping power..
