In Darksun I was a Mul cleric. When it got to the point to escape the slave pens he wasn't strong enough to tear the half-giant hair bonds. Terrible I say! I even offered to heal the other PC's later if they helped me but no avail. Currently, in my campaign, we are tracking down some sort of an artifact that, if used, will unleash the dark powers from a very dark plane and we don't want that.... so we found out the Zhents have it and are planning on using it... but they want to use it far enough from their own territory so that it doesn't harm any of them.... so they are headed to Dagger Falls.... my territory. And we have to try and stop them. Last Saturday we had an epic battle over a Keep that the Zhents occupied. It was near Dagger Falls. The plan was to ambush them during the switching of the guards at the court yard. Then overtake them there and move up to the Keep and get the rest of their soldiers out in the open to kill them. I was the distraction. Or rather my Tiefling was. I flew in, under the cover of darkness and in that minute where they were changing guards, I sent in a level three fireball in the center of the court yard to get their attention. And get their attention I did. They had 4 balistas covering the court yard. While I threw the first fireball, I sent my "pebbles of destruction" raining down on two of the balistas covering the back gate leading up to the main part of the Keep. Pebbles of destruction are small, seemingly harmless stones that turn into giant boulders that just smash anything they land on at my word. Did a lot of damage to both back balistas. While that was going on - Our forces stormed the front gate easily because of the distraction I provided. The front two balistas were damaged heavily and some of their soldiers were killed. In the mean time, Other members of our party flew in or Orange, my daughter's character's pet giant cat. Two of the party members were able to send Magic Missiles at the soldiers operating the back two balistas and deal some serious damage. I flew up to the main gates of the Keep and was able to take out two of the four balistas that were there. I stayed in the air since balistas aren't capable of shooting upwards like that. I dropped my pebbles of destruction down as well as dropped a few more fireballs their way. My daughter also sent an Aqueous Orb in the path between the back gate of the courtyard and the main gate of the Keep. Anything that was in the way got caught up in the orb and took drowning damage. Then I laid a track of Black Tentacles to grapple anyone who managed to escape the Orb. All in all, the Zhents were terrified that night. It was great. We killed nearly all of them and took half a dozen as hostages. Disclaimer: I am only responsible for what I say, not what you choose to understand.

I did ok with that. That description sounded cool. I usually was not good at strategic stuff. RE: Rep-pimping thread for the Mad Cosmic Emperor Iroscato

He does us Excel spread sheets to keep track of hit points, special items and such, but he utilizes a treasure roller and a randomizer to do other DM things. We were allowed, as a team, to work out a strategy prior to storming the gates and surprising the Zhents. Disclaimer: I am only responsible for what I say, not what you choose to understand.
My elf was about as subtle as me.
Blow shit up and then let the fighters do their work. Of course she called the fighters living shields and was not adverse to putting up magical barriers between her and a battle. All this D&D talk is making me nostalgic as fuck. I played with my brothers for a couple years. I had two characters:
Ptolemy, Paladin of Tyr who was the stereotypical stick-up-his-ass type (this was way back in the AD&D 2e days when Paladins had to be Lawful Good). Allune Innsbrooke, wizard whose main hobby was taking bits and pieces of the monsters we killed as souvenirs because they could probably be used as ingredients for some kind of magic item. He smelled bad, and looked greasy and disheveled most of the time. Allune was really fun to play. Under all the hair and grime was a pretty cunning guy whose moral compas was slightly askew from everybody else's.
