You also have to account for these right wing Christians groups with compounds stocked with guns and ammo for the end of the world as well has the southerns with guns, they are spooky people. Do you feel "safe" now, Dad?

When Morris tried to grab the falling gun, he accidentally pulled the trigger, shooting himself in the stomach. Yup, guns keep the whole family "safe". Quote:According to the RAND Center for Military Health Policy Research 20% of the vets who served in either Iraq or Afghanistan suffer from either major depression or post-traumatic stress disorder. 19.5% of vets in these two categories have experienced a traumatic brain injury. These three service related disorders alone have an enormous impact on the demand for veteran mental health treatment. The problem with stats like this is that they do not distinguish between the grunts out on patrol and the guys who are back at HQ keeping the computers running or driving a forklift in the warehouse. I submit to you that a better indicator would be "what percentage of those who are out in the boondocks" have PTSD or other mental health issues. That might be too scary a number even for the army to put out. Some have gotten it waiting for the shit to hit the fan. They really shouldn't have been there in the first place. As for the TBIs, that's 19.5% of 20%? Sometimes they look up numbers ex post facto, but most of the time it's "accepted wisdom", aka "internet bullshit". The question of numbers is something that is important, it be nice have more detailed data for the numbers of Vets with P.T.S.D or brain injures as well as private citizens who have never served in the military. What the primary concern is, how do we stop groups or individuals from gathering weapons and ammunition. The idea of a complete assault weapon ban is a great idea; we need to take a step further though. The ammo for these types of weapons should be removed entirely from store shelves and from the internet sites. Increasing the price of the ammunition would put a small dent in the problem, but if we are to put any major dent in this issue, the ammo for these weapons needs to be discontinued from main stream production and only sold to the military. With civilian contractors in charge of shipping and watching the billing of these company's. It's a win-win for everyone, the ammo ammunition is next to impossible to get and jobs are created to replace the ones lost in the mass production of ammunition. RE: All Hail the Second Amendment
