I'm organizing a donation drive for the unsheltered homeless in my area

RE: I'm organizing a donation drive for the unsheltered homeless in my area
Managed to raise enough dough to buy several dozen blankets and enough personal hygiene items to go around. We'll be canvassing areas I now have a lot of unsheltered people on Friday and Saturday early in the morning. I think we'll make up some brown bag meals as well.

I've been informally checking out Old Town early in the morning and sadly, I don't think it will be much work to give away what people have generously provided.

I think this is great CD. I have a ton of fabric laying around. I can sew up a bunch of blankets and distribute them to the homeless in my area.

Thanks alpha.

We went out at 5am this morning and distributed three dozen blankets and personal hygiene kits in about an hour.

Brown paper lunch bags with pb&j sandwich and an apple or banana might be another good thing to distribute.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

We talked to a lot.of people this morning and got a pretty good idea what the needs are. Food and tarps were popular requests. One guy needed socks. Quite a few asked for smokes, I don't think I can help with that though.

We're definitely going to put together some sack lunches next time we go out.

Yeah, underwear and socks are one of the most frequent requests from the homeless shelter I help support. That and toilet paper. Another interesting specific request is for zip lock bags.

It's getting cold here and expect to see/hear about some "urgent" requests.
