If you were smarter than average that would be something worth noting, but by your own words, you are only slightly brighter than someone delusional.
It doesn't pay to put people down, because it doesn't put you up any higher.

I never said you or anyone was stupid, I said that some people think that claiming to be better than a vegetable, gives them credit.
So what's the point of calling anyone mad or insane, and then making yourself the criterion?
And again, you made a second error - what does being 12 years old have to do with the level of someone's intelligence?
I don't want you to try and explain that to me either, just work it out for yourself.

Really? I think most atheists here don't assume they are smarter than theists. Read this thread to find plenty of examples. Just like you, however, they are certain of their beliefs. If you ask any of us why we are so certain, we'll gladly tell you. There are reasons. Logical reasons. I don't think you are getting anywhere by mischaracterizing atheists, and that is exactly what you are doing.
FWIW, I don't think atheists are any smarter than theists. Try listening. If you disagree with something in a particular post, call the person out on it. Sweeping generalizations will get you nowhere.

I don't know anything about that, but when you take the name of God in vain, you are giving one of the highest possible insults to anyone loyal to God.
So can you really say that you haven't retaliated?
But if you haven't retaliated - then you are the better one of any party.

"Retaliated" is a word in the English language. The past tense of "to retaliate". Look, I came here thirsty for logical debate, and so far, these forums have done much to quench that thirst. What thirst have you come with? Have you come to a dry well? Logical debate is what transpires here most of the time. Sure, some unfair chides and insults happen. You might want to develop a thicker skin and you'll find that (for the most part) people here respect you as a human being. But they reserve the right to disagree with you.
As to your taking offense at taking the Lord's name in vain, we do not accept that commandment. It's not meant to insult you.
Hindu's might be insulted by people who eat beef, but I don't eat beef to insult them. That's just an unintended side effect.
Edit: was responding to a comment SH made that "retaliated" was a non-word or something to that effect... he edited it out of his post, though.

"I am surprised how many..."
that statement isn't a percentage or a specific quanitity, it is just an indication that I have found enough people, by their posts, to make the relevant comment. It is not a generalisation, that's your take on it.
And as far as mischaracterising atheists is concerned, I don't think that some people on this forum are doing the athiest community any favours, and when I call them on their comments, it is not a mischaracterisation.
However, the way that God is misrepresented, and given the worst possible names - that's attacking the innocent, that is vile, and I'm sorry but ignorance is no excuse for abuse.

So you have no regard for the commandment, and I guess I am supposed to have regard to your commandments, or am I entitled to break your rules and abuse you?

"Surprised how many people agree" sounds like a generalization. Maybe it's not, but it isn't usually a phrase one uses to describe an insignificant minority. My apologies if I misconstrued your statements.
If you feel that God is being misrepresented, say so. Don't expect people to automatically nod in agreement... expect pushback. Very few here misrepresent God IMO. They simply don't think he exists. The entity referred to in the Bible, "God" does permit and endorse genocide and things like that, but I don't know specifically what you're referring to.
Give an example of a misrepresentation of God from these forums and I'll discuss it with you right here right now.

When you post in these forums, you have to follow the rules. If we were to meet elsewhere, the mods couldn't penalize you for how you behave toward me.

Agree with the Vulcan, I do.
There are plenty of atheists who think that accomplishment is evidence of genius - at least by comparison with those who believe in the supernatural. But that is something that unites atheists with theists. Most xtians give the impression they think they are far morally superior to atheists. People on the whole exaggerate in a manner that casts themselves in a superior light. Fortunately we don't have to be like them. I don't claim the mental high ground, maybe it is time you come down off your moral high horse, Starhunter.

I think that supernatural belief is irrational and people who insist that it represents reality are delusional. They only become stupid when they invent Heath Robinson machines of rationalisations to justify their beliefs, all to avoid the far simpler and less convenient truths.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
