Life is nothing

Life is nothing
If we are just created by chance and nothing else, then what's the point of living if in the end, we are just gonna die and be forgotten? If we are nothing but a bunch of cells and sperms that had evolved over time, then why must we care and love one another? And no, saying that we need others to survive is not an valid answer. I don't care about surviving. If life's is just about surviving, then that means we should only care about ourselves and nothing else. So that means that hospitals and medicine and things like that should not exist. Nothing in ever matters so we might as well die and not exist since nothing we ever do as humans will accomplish a single thing. So why bother? God does not exist. Heaven does not exist. Spirits don't exist. The only thing that exists is just us in a dark, empty void with a bunch of gases that we call the universe. That's it. So we should need to live a long, happy life since we will just die and soon be forgotten and wither away. Life comes from nothing, death means we become nothing, therefore life itself means absolutely nothing. I hate atheism.

Well, firstly, IDK if that's an accurate summary of -any- position on how we got here...but...it;s a question that doesn't go away if we got here by some "other".

We're still going to die and be forgotten.  That's what happens.  Does that sour it for you?  Must you be permanent and present in mind for all time in order to see any point in drawing breath?

Are you asking about your own individual motivation, or?

OFC it is, if you're asking for what motivations there are that;s one of them..a cynical one usually referenced as a last resort, but it compells some to cooperate even when they don;t want to for whatever reason.

Perhaps that's just you?  Others might find their desire to survive wholly more compelling.

You provided one answer to that question in asking it.  Self interest.  I would hope it;s at the bottom of anyone's list as to what the point of life or why they love anyone...but it's there.

People generally use the term "therefore" when some conclusion flows from prior propositions.  Yours doesn't......and I;m not sure why it makes you hate atheism, whatever that means.  Atheism didn't make the world that way, if that's the way the world is...lol.

Survival is not a answer since we are far past the point when it comes to "surviving". And also, I'll let you know that once again, what's the point of living if life was simply created by chance? That would mean we were not ever meant to exist.

If you really believe this, you'd have had a gun to your temple as you typed and be dead before you read this reply. People who criticize the purpose of life tend to have an uncanny survival rate.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

Somehow, I manage to avoid all of those things the OP is complaining about.

Perhaps the issue here is that the OP thinks his life has no value or meaning. Well, I can't help you with that, but I can say that the things the OP claims ain't necessarily so.

Okay, but, you pretty much have to recognize that the strongest way you can phrase this is that survival is not an answer -to you-.  It certainly isn't the reason that I love or live, either.  Nevertheless, if we had nothing else, we would always have that compelling self interest.

What are you letting me know?  I thought you were asking a question.  Why would there be more or less of a point to living based off whether we were created by chance or some "other"?   Who thinks we were "simply created by chance" in the first place?

Perhaps we weren't meant to exist, perhaps that;s because the universe doesn't have any intentions...but so what?  What does that have to do with the point of your life or of you loving?

Life has no intrinsic meaning. Put on your big-boy britches and come up with your own meaning, like everyone else, including theists, do.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

That's a lot of questions.

I have two for you of my own.

1) Why would we need a point/reason/whatever anyway?
2) Could hypothetically a life with preset value not be concidered less valuable than one in which no such value is determined by anything but those things that in their finite time and space arise?

I don't need you to feel anyway about these two questions, but they might be worth pondering over. You don't need to solve or answer them, just think.
