My favorites change. But at the moment I'd say that in order going from my most liked of the album to my least liked of the album it is is: Spooks and Sparks, Tension Need Apply, Still Perky, Tapestry of Frenzied Chaos, Strike One, Marching in Circles, Swooshing Shapes, Bouncy Squash.
Not proud of any of it really but I don't get proud or ashamed of things in any meaningful way. It's just fun creating and layering musical elements and arranging them into tracks. It's also awesome how once I can afford Ableton Live again (I lost my CD key for my last copy) I can arrange all of this live and shorten and lengthen and rearrange any of these tracks however I want. And even blend them into each other if I copy a loop or two towards the end of a song and change its key to the next song I wanna cross into when playing live.
TOFC definitely has my favorite song structure of all the songs though. It really explores 3 different themes and just as it sounds like it's finishing it gradually rotates all around from the final theme and returns back to the final theme in this way that I just think is a more interesting structure than the other songs.
But I like the sound of some of the others more.
The arpeggiating synth loop that starts to come in later on towards the end of the final song...[EDIT: Actually it's more like just over half way through... but it feels like more towards the ending section to me because I'm used to composing longer songs than 6 minutes so the last 3 minutes feels like the ending even though that's half of this song]...is really pretty and cute and happy sounding but it also gives that nostalgic or 'what might have been' type feeling to me. Definitely wanna do more stuff that again when I do more calm and downbeat stuff like that. Still Perky really sounds kind of sad-happy and in ends in a way where it feels like something is unresolved... in a sort of "to be continued" way which I like. It just works well as an ending song for me. The previous song could have easily ended it but it felt like "Either the album ends here or I'll do one more shorter slower laid back one that sort of feels like it almost doesn't fit but then in a way that makes it work somehow."
I totally overanalyze my own music LOL.
I also wanna do more aggressive drum style stuff like in Marching in Circles. I like what I did with the aggressive drums there. It's especially important that I didn't overuse them and have them crashing all the way through the song. I think I used them well compared to in the past where when I did drums like that it would just crash all the way through the song and get really really annoying.
I still wanna do that kind of stuff only occasionally though. I like aggressive rock/drum-and-bass style drum loops in electronic music on occasion.... but it's by no means my favorite. I'm always gonna be a 909 guy.
