The Trinity Doctrine: Help me out, Christians
RE: The Trinity Doctrine: Help me out, Christians
Who know's, but I'm sure it's the other guys fault.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Just occurred to me God would have experienced directly Jesus death on the cross and would have also suffered Christ's depredations in Hell.

Does that mute or enhance what Jesus experienced ?

God would have had to willingly submit to everything that happened to Jesus too  . . . and shared His reactions.

Like Jesus anger at the fig tree, Jesus being aware His feet were sore/tired from trekking from place to place, Jesus feeling hunger and knowing it's time to eat, God has a direct simultaneous identical experience.

Is there theological peril with any of that ?

If the word God is a title and not a name why would the Father feel what the son endured outside of empathy? The father is seperate from the son as well as the Spirit is seperate from the Father and Son.

You know..there was a branch of christendom that asked that exact question about 1700 years ago..and got called heretics for their trouble.  That;s precisely why we have a nicene creed...and the hilariously illogical "separate but co-equal" trinitarian god.

As far as heretics go, they got off pretty easy (their books were burnt rather than their flesh).... a fortunate confluence of faith and avarice for both parties.

You probably are not in danger of someone ripping of that quote to put on a poster for civil discourse.

Not at all related to that, I wonder why our society is getting so polarized?

I didn’t say you, or anyone else was stupid, Steve.  I simply find this particular doctrine to be baldly, batshit idiotic.  I honestly cannot think of a more tactful way to say it that doesn’t diminish how strongly I feel about that, lol.

Is there a formal logical fallacy to describe the kind of reverse ad hominem, wherein instead of someone attacking an individual (note spelling, Drich Tongue) instead of their position or argument, the individual throws themselves in the path of the attack on their position to make it personal?

If there isn't, I want to lay claim to the Bodyguard Fallacy.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I don’t think that really makes a difference. If you have something to add or an argument to make is one thing. If I’m doing something stupid, or my thinking is wrong show me. However, if this isn’t your intention... an emotional outburst of “that’s stupid”... and walking off in an earnest discussion. Just seems childish. I agree.... it’s uncouth and not part of civil discussion.

It’s just my opinion, Road.  I’m entitled to it.  It’s not emotional; it’s just what I think.  *shrugs*

You're a woman, LadyForCamus. Stop being aggressive like us men. These gentlemen have a problem with that.

You're very intelligent, by the way. And they just can't handle that. So they need to find a way to isolate you out as overly aggressive or emotional when in fact some of us men have shown way more aggression and emotionality than you have (if at all you have). And yet nobody calls us men aggressive.
