Wonder if something akin to a 'children's crusade' might be in the offing ??

With social media and flash mobs and so much digital interconnection it seems like teens today might coalesce and force grownups to take action in providing safe schools and timely/effective mental health services.

Don't know if we could expect a "Million Kid March" and all them shouting "SHAME!" in Washington DC, but it would be quite a thing if we did.

No sorry, the companies that produce firearms ARE NOT doing enough to prevent their products from getting into the wrong hands. THEY are like any other business. They answer to the shareholders and their goal is to expand the market and sell more. THAT is not slander, that is a fact of business. The real slander is coming from the right, claiming any desire for better vetting, and making less is some call for a fascist state. THAT is the real slander.

But Brian road says we have to give them a verbal handjob while people die. That will surely get gun lobby to give it billion dollar investment in the arms industry . Surely all gun fanatics will stop spewing slogans. Insisting despite all evidence that more guns will make us safer . Shifting the blame to fucking games marilyn manson. And comparing a fucking shoe lace to an assault rifle. And right after Steve Bannon will convert to Islam and world peace will be announced .

Of course I look to law to address the issue. What other option is there? However, I'm under no illusions that it would be a quick fix ... or a complete fix, for that matter. I mean, murder is illegal already.

Nor do I think shutting down conversation to be a good course of action. Any possible solution would need to have buy-in from both sides of this discussion. How are you going to achieve that by shutting discussion down? I think it's best that folks speak their views and work towards finding common ground. Perhaps neither side will be thrilled with the outcome, but if it makes headway against the problem, I reckon that's a good thing.

Here in Kentucky, we can go to the local gun store and buy AR-15s with high capacity clips. 

We can also shoot birds, in season. Doves, Bobwhite Quail, Geese, Ducks. We are limited to shotguns. No more than three shells in the chamber.  The shells must be hand loaded, No clips.

We have gun control already. Just not when it involves hunting humans.

Right, I am done being polite about this. Week after week, month after month, year after year, decade after decade. The firearm worshipers stupidly think nobody on the left owns them. They stupidly think any call to sanity is a call to become North Korea. Australia had Tasmania and they fucking actually did  something about it afterwards. I am here right now. They aren't a dictatorship. People still own guns. But they simply don't hand them out like candy. I have been in Australia for over a week now and everyone I talk to thinks we are nuts with our firearm laws.

It isn't music.
It isn't video games.
It isn't migrants.
It isn't religion.
It isn't the mentally ill.



It is volume made and ease of access regardless of motive.

As a former gun nut, it absolutely is time to have an earnest national debate on this issue. No more kicking the can down the road.

Indeed.... but people are emotional and the presence of a gun empowers them, heightening the emotions and leading to.... what we see.
Had the guns not been available, the person would never cause such a problem... nor would it have happened 17 times in the past 47 days, a rate of more than two per week.

 If it wasn't a gun it would be something else, may not be as many killed with somethings but what it were a bomb, can get a menu for them on the net. I want my guns to hunt a shoot with and if need be to protect.

My temporary solution to help limit Gun Violence, without banning or restricting guns in any way (so as to please the people who think guns should be easier to get than Sudafed)

Let victims of mass shootings sue gun manufacturers as well as whatever business or individual sold the weapon to the perpatrator(s). If your gun kills more than 3 people in an event, you should be held liable for damages. Let them pay the hospital bills of the injured, let them pay the funeral expenses of the dead, and let them pay for the emotional distress their product has caused.

That is still justification for not controlling guns .Just because the might use something else  does not mean one should not do something about guns  . An bomb is too dangerous to construct even if you can get the plans and the materials  . Which is why mass killer go for guns there easy .easily accessible and don't require dangerous assembly . And can easily kill large numbers of people without the high probability of malfunction a home made has . There is no reason in a 1st world country you need to hunt . People should not die so you can shoot at targets . And in most scenarios a gun will not save you. And if you live in a place where a gun needed for protection you need to fucking move or fix that shit .
