I don't, never claimed I did. We have some reasons to believe that the universe must be at least 150 billion light-years in diameter

And yet you claimed that because the universe was spatially infinite the big bang was false? A bit inconsistent there, aren't you?

Are you serious?

Silly Cinjin, even I can tell you that: a little after the beginning. It's practically part of the intro

So, because a guy believes in a creator or creators, we must chuck science out the door in the name of ... um-what? This sounds consistent with, oh, 16th Century Italy. Very cutting edge.
Trying to update my sig ...

Greetings Diamond- looking forward to your further input on this very interesting subject. I watched the two videos but as I don't understand what they were talking about, I'm not sure if they have valid counter arguments??
It's a shame these debates can't be more patient and friendly. (I know how you feel). I for one, welcome you here and I'm looking forward to learning about your ideas (beliefs) as a deist and this extremely interesting topic of which I hope I'll be able to understand some of it.....

All you deists should start with watching the ENTIRE Cosmos series by Carl Sagan. Once you do. Come back here and talk to us.
Netflix has it.

Thanks CoxRox.
Just to update you I am in the process of compiling some arguments that will be more structured for this discussion, as you can imagine this is not always a quick process but I will be back with some counter arguments and reasons of why there is doubt about the BB not just by me but by qualified cosmologists.
Paintpooper this is not to do with any ones religious views, this is pure cosmology, in fact settling on BB is probably easier for a typical Deist as it indicates a point of origin which would probably need a creation theory i.e what was there before the BB or what created the original particles/atoms to generate the expansion.
Spk soon.

Five pages in, and Diamond still hasn't told us why he thinks the Big Bang theory is not a valid working cosmological model to explain the early development of our universe.

Wait a minute, you came in with that OP and didn't have anything beyond some crackpot screaming conspiracy? What were you going to do when we didn't heed their sage wisdom? Weak.

Hence why I said watch Cosmos.
And if you say a creator created the first particles/atoms... then what created the creator.
Isn't the much more simplest explanation is that... it is what it is. The universe has always contained a finite amount of matter and energy and that will always be true. Accept that the universe... is the universe. No creation had to happen... it just is. This is the universe that we live in, period, end of discussion. No needs for creators because that creates an ending cycle of creation.
