Theists: how do you account for psychopaths?
RE: Theists: how do you account for psychopaths?
You're right, I should have added that after realizing what their caricature God really is, they may or may not choose to carry on worshipping it. But it causes some to "snap out" of religion, even if it only brings them as far as deism.

I'm just guessing of course, as I'm still learning about how the religious mind works. It seems this way from a lot of stories I've heard.

RE: Theists: how do you account for psychopaths?
It seems entirely sinister to me. Having never considered the idea credible in the first place.  All I see is a bunch of people who wish ill on their fellow man.  I dont see people snapping out.,..as it were.  I see them doubling down on horrible shit...because that's who they are.

The smiling face of common evil.  As familiar as granny and apple pie. People ask me..here and IRL, whether or not I think it's really that bad...and..as a lifelong non believer, I can only surmise that it's not just bad, but worse than most recognize. That the people they wish to rehabilitate..conceptually.....are the face of human suffering, lol.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I believe the psychopath hardened their heart so they lack empathy. It can now be measured by an MRI. I saw a video of it on television.

Yes, psychopathy can be seen in brain scans.

What makes you think they did this to themselves? How is that even physically possible? Why isn’t such a hypothesis mentioned anywhere in psychology?

Could have happened after abusive childhood or for a number of causes.  Not to say they always deliberately brought this upon themselves.

What is your evidence that they alter their brains themselves?

From my understanding this can occur after an abusive childhood and signs of psychosis are found in children.

Okay, I haven't seen anything saying that abuse actually causes psychopathy (different from psychosis). Do you have any sources?

What about the psycopaths who have a normal upbringing?

Some may just choose evil.  It may actually be covered in Deuteronomy 21: 18-21 for a rebellious child.

Stoning your child to death will not make them a psychopath, it will make them dead.
