For them it's an exploitation opportunity at another attempt to smear President Trump and the GOP. They even tried to post pictures of children in chain link holding pens only to find out that the picture was taken in 2014, under obama. Of course, the left ignored this since it was during obama's administration. While being detained these children will be given food and water, be given shelter, and be given medical treatment until their illegal immigrant parents face their day in court. What this shows is that the left cares more for illegals by way of exploitation than they do for our own U.S. citizens and their children. The dems are struggling for a message heading into the mid terms and they have none. Let 'em try this on the campaign trail and see how far it gets them.
Do you have any idea how emotionally and psychologically traumatizing it is to seperate a breastfed infant from its mother? That’s cruelty of unfathomable proportions, no matter who’s administration it happens under. How can you defend such a thing? Unnecessarily harming babies for the transgressions of their parents is indefensible, IMO. But go on. Keep telling us what moral pigs we are for being pro-choice. Life is precious unless your born and/or brown, am I right? 😏 I didn't hear any of you making an issue of this when the same thing was happening under obama. But go ahead. Let the democrats try and make a campaign issue out of this.

It's true. I didn't hear anyone make an issue of it then either. Also people have no idea the reality of the situation. They always paint an overly dramatic scenario of nursing babies being torn from the breast, even though there is no evidence that's happened even once. Just unsubstantiated claims.
I'd be the first to condemn such a thing. I find it consistently frustrating that when it comes to politics, the supposed skeptics never even ask "is this true?" Or in this case "is this different than what happened before?"

Apparently because it didn't happen. You really need to stop believing every piece of shit that comes out of asswipe's mouth.

Quote:Yet for George W. Bush and Barack Obama, the idea of crying children torn from their parents’ arms was simply too inhumane — and too politically perilous — to embrace as policy, and Mr. Trump, though he had made an immigration crackdown one of the central issues of his campaign, succumbed to the same reality, publicly dropping the idea after Mr. Kelly’s comments touched off a swift backlash.
But advocates inside the administration, most prominently Stephen Miller, Mr. Trump’s senior policy adviser, never gave up on the idea. Last month, facing a sharp uptick in illegal border crossings, Mr. Trump ordered a new effort to criminally prosecute anyone who crossed the border unlawfully — with few exceptions for parents traveling with their minor children.
And now Mr. Trump faces the consequences. With thousands of children detained in makeshift shelters, his spokesmen this past week had to deny accusations that the administration was acting like Nazis. Even evangelical supporters like Franklin Graham said its policy was “disgraceful.”

Because it wasn't happening under Obama, under Obama families were put into detention centers together. The new "0 Tolerance" policy instituted by Trump has separated 2000 children from the parents since April. Trump decided that taking children away would act as a deterrent to families trying to sneak in to the U.S., saying that this was the policy under Obama is just not true.

The children are separated as the parents enter the federal prison system (you don't put children in adult prisons). On the other hand, I have heard it presented as a deterrent to an ever increasing problem of illegal immigration.
But sometimes, I think you need to take step back from whatever reasons or justifications you have for what you are doing; and ask, "Is this right". Even if logically valid, it may not be morally valid. And I would agree that this is most definitely one of those times. Tearing apart a family, when it is unnecessary or especially as a deterrent is wrong. This policy should be rejected and discarded. I think that there is a big problem with illegal immigration. I can agree to having harsh (zero tolerance) policies to those who are guilty. But I can't see where this is morally justifiable. I've heard similar on the Breakpoint podcast recently, so hopefully, we can get this changed.
Good for you, RR. It’s nice to see a theist with some moral sense around here, who doesn’t just stick to the script the far right feeds you. 👍
Not all theists are heavy republicans. I’m more middle of the road leaning right anymore. But I critisize both, and can agree with either. I liked Bill Clinton, and really liked Edwards from the dems.

There is not a jail or prison anywhere around me that keeps children together with either parent. And it's been that way a very long time. Unaccompanied children coming across highlights an even worse problem due to predation along the way, IMO. What happens here is better in any regards compared to what can or does happen to them along the way.
heard a commentator bring up Elian Gonzalez on POTUS yesterday, just my mentioning that is probably going to punch some buttons here.
