Shutting down fossil fuel electric plants
October 20, 2018 at 11:49 pm
(This post was last modified: October 20, 2018 at 11:50 pm by Rahn127.)
The UN issued a dire warning about making drastic changes by 2030 (less than 12 years away) in the world's CO2 emissions in order to avoid catastrophic consequences.
My question to you all....
Do you think other countries will soon begin to bomb fossil fuel power plants as a way of shutting them down if they aren't shut down voluntarily ?
It just so happens that 2030 is when I'll be retired.
I was born in 65 and I'll be 65 in 2030
Damn that sounds old.
So what do you think ?

That warning isn't meant for megacorps or people who can actually change things, it's a headsup to us common folk to start counting our days.

It may have been intended as a warning for those who can change things, in theory, but, in practice, it's just a confirmation that we're pretty much fucked. The US has made abundantly clear that they don't give a shit about cutting down their emissions.

I'm envisioning many other countries gathering together and targeting the worst offenders (China, US, European Union, India)
Militarily, Russia would be the only one that could realistically put all of those countries in check, but it would probably mean nuclear war and on that front, we all lose anyway you look at it.

Citizens would rebel, if they jobs would be taken because of some climate changes. It won't be happening.

Lots of people may lose more than their jobs if action isn't taken.
This is an extinction level event in the making.

It's a shame I won't be around for the next hundred years when global warming really begins to kick into high gear. I'd love to see what humanity does, or doesn't.

Russia exports massive amount of fossil fuels and refined energy. The notion that they're going to bomb their markets out of existence is ludicrous.
The countries that get their largest share of energy from non-fossil fuels tend to be little ones (Sweden, Denmark, Scotland, etc). I don't really see Costa Rica fire-bombing the EU.
