Yet another case of the RCC deeming its people above secular law.

The most common anecdotes I've heard about nuns in my time was how mean and ignorant they could be or how a few carried on clandestine sexual relationships with priests, yet this is the first time I've ever heard of some being guilty of grand larceny.
I would be interested in hearing about how they got caught.

"Steal" is perhaps a relative term here considering that nuns slave for Church and basically don't get paid at all, so why wouldn't they take some money they earned anyway?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Well, not quite so easy when I remember there was another episode where Bishop Brennan explaned that the money that was supposed to send a sick child to Lourdes was actually spent on a trip to Vegas, and that I couldn't find that clip. I could find four versions of this, two with Father Ted replaced by David Cameron, but none of that other scene. Actually, I did find it in this compilation. Starting at 2:05. Sadly, Father Ted did not use the "just resting in my account" line here.

One half million USD? Quarter million each? I could get into the habit for that money. |
